The Shawshank Redemption's Frank Darabont directed the first episode of The Walking Dead, but it will be Adam Davidson who brings the planned spin-off to the small screen. Shooting is scheduled to begin later this year, but when the "companion" series will air hasn't been made clear. Comic book scribe and executive producer Robert Kirkman developed the untitled show with Dave Erickson (Marco Polo) and it apparently takes place during the same zombie apocalypse shown in The Walking Dead (just in a different location and perhaps even a different time period). Davidson is no stranger to TV, and his credits include the likes of Fringe, Kingdom, and Hell on Wheels. He also won an Oscar in 1991 for his short film, The Lunch Date. What do you guys think?
