RUMOR: Only Male Directors Have Been Approached To Helm WONDER WOMAN
Following yesterday's news that Warner Bros. are apparently planning a trilogy of Wonder Woman movies set in different periods, another now claims that contrary to recent reports, the studio haven't actually approached any female directors. Hit the jump for further details!
Bleeding Cool ran a report yesterday in which they quite confidently stated that Wonder Woman's upcoming movie will be set during the First World War, with the plan to place the sequel during World War II and the third in the present day. They've followed up on that today with news on who will helm the 2017 release, and while they don't have any names, they do know it seemingly won't be a woman despite recent claims otherwise. It was The Hollywood Reporter who first mentioned the plan to hire a female director, then a later report from Forbes reeled off a list of potential candidates, but now "[As] it stands, I understand that only male directors have been approached regarding directing the Wonder Woman movie." Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily, as hiring a woman to direct a movie starring a female superhero seemed a little patronising; is it not just better to find the right person for the job regardless of gender? What do you guys think?
