Among them is Star Wars: Darth Vader #1, and this incredible variant cover by Alex Ross is so amazing, we're going to let it do the talking for us! Vader was never shown to be very agile or acrobatic in the movies. He had a couple of good leaps but nothing fancy like Darth Maul.

Then again, the only opponents we saw him fight were an old man and a novice, so perhaps he didn't really bring his A game to those duels.

lol...it's OK. But all it really has going for it Vader's position, the light sabre pointing down rather then the usual up.

I like Ross' work...but this isn't "amazing".

"I like Ross' work...but this isn't "amazing"."

Look closer...you see the detail on the leather portion of his suit?

This is ridiculous.

Okay, looks cool, but what the hell is Vader doing? Riding on top of an elevator? Carving his name in freshly laid cement? Preparing a latte?

I guess you have to understand that most of his work starts from photographs.

My eyes bulged in heady delight when I read the article title. I don't think Ross has done Vader before has he? @jollem?

But then seeing it i'm kinda disappointed. Is it the pose? The overall lack of Vader feel? Killer for a comic book cover, but not Star Wars iconic.

It loses all its significance when you look down and realize that he used the lightsabre to write "Vader wuz here!" in the ground.

@pintoman - I agree, this is nice but hardly amazing work, more by the numbers for Alex Ross. Whoever he got to pose for him needed to bulk up a little for Vader, that helmet just looks like a large mound on his frame, worse than it did on Harden Christensen. And that pose is suited more for some Superhero making his point than the Dark Lord of the Sith. All it does is make it look like he's taking a cosmic dump.
