STAR WARS EPISODE VII's Oscar Isaac To Play Titular Villain In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
There had been talk of both Tom Hardy and Idris Elba being in the running for the role of Apocalypse in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, but it has now been revealed that Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) has landed the role of this iconic villain in the 2016 movie. Hit the jump for details!
According to Variety (and the rest of the trades), Oscar Isaac has been cast as Apocalypse in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse. This is the second big franchise that the actor - who found himself nominated for a number of awards following an impressive turn in the Coen Brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis - has joined as he will next year be seen taking on a leading role in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Isaac was also said to be in the running for Doctor Strange a while back. Those of you that guessed that report posted last week was hinting at Idris Elba being in the running weren't wrong as both he and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal were being looked at according to The Wrap. Though Isaac may not exactly look the part, you have to imagine that his look will be enhanced with CGI, especially after Singer was quoted as saying that, "'Apocalypse' will have more of the mass destruction that ‘X-Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon. There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle." X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be released on May 27th, 2016. How do you guys feel about this casting?
