Wolverine may be dead, but the weekly journey is just beginning as his mortal remains, now encased in the rare and powerful adamantium, are up for grabs. The battle begins as various factions vie for control of this valuable artifact. But why does it matter so much? And why is a war brewing in Logan’s name?

Death is on the books for a number of Marvel’s heroes and villains, and Mystique is playing chess with them all. X-23, Daken, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, the mysterious man known only as Sharp and many, many more!

 “In a way, most of the characters featured in [Wolverines] are incomplete reflections of Wolverine,” says co-writer Ray Fawkes in an interview with Marvel.com “Perhaps now that he’s gone, they are free to fully realize themselves? Or maybe they’ll be annihilated by the void that he’s left behind?”

The true enemy is still out there. With Logan gone, they pose a greater threat than ever before. An unlikely team of his closest allies and most bitter rivals will need to work together if they have any hope of avenging his death – but how can they?

“The group here is not a set of people who are particularly interested in doing anything together unless they absolutely have to,” says Charles Soule.

Logan’s end was just the beginning. As those who called him friend mourn his passing, those who called him foe are free to pursue their sinister aims. Now, those with close ties to him will forge an uneasy alliance to uncover the secrets behind  his death, and new revelations about his life!

2015 is kicking off with the “SNIKT” that shouldn’t be missed as the weekly adventure begins in WOLVERINES #1!

Wolverine's healing factor means he's still alive in that thing, so he'll return when they need him to, likely when whatever faction wins this petty war decides to remove the Adamantium from his body for whatever reasons.

@braces

I'm guessing that's "the mysterious man known only as Sharp" as the summary in the yellow box says.

Can NEVER get enough Wrecking Crew!
So until Marvel makes them agents of SHIELD . . . I'm on board.

So thats how they killed Wolves. He's obviously not dead encased in adamantium. He'll be back.

@Skeeman
@Scarilian

Wolverine had no healing factor when encased in the adamantium. He would have died from massive burns.

Sooooooo, Why is Mystique part of Team Wolvey??

I get everyone else, but wouldn't Deadpool be a better fit seeing how they both have healing powers and DP likes to decapitate people with his katanas?

That os some horrible art, have X-fans standards have dropped, or is this another plot of Marvel to devalue their mutant properties.

@Nivekian

Standards are up because that's some of the best art on the market.

@retrofit

It's not bad art but when it's one of the top companies in the world makes you wonder how this is passable.

Awful art work inside, Skottie's makes me laugh though.

Love me some x-23 :-)

For me Sabretooth becoming wolverine for a while is pointless- the only point i could see to it would be to turn the character back into a bad ass but if Sabretooth is straight into bumming Captain America... i mean joining the Avengers.... then he's like the opposite of a rebellious character.

After Secret Wars they should keep 90s wolverine in 616 :-P

Wolverine is so popular that now characters are fighting over who gets to cosplay as him...

I was hoping the death of Logan might allow the X-Men to get a little distance from him being in everything all the time, but... well, clearly not.

Hate..HATE Daken,didn't his sorry ass die?
I know characters come back all the time but that loser should stay gone.

When sales don't add up for this weak series..Logan will return.

Nick Bradshaw needs to stop trying to draw like Arthur Adams. He's filing miserably.
