"Sony Hack" Reveals AQUAMAN Director And FANTASTIC FOUR/X-MEN Movie Plans

It appears as if execs at Sony are privy to more than just the goings on in their own studio as a new set of "Sony Hack" emails reveal who will apparently direct Aquaman for Warner Bros. and that Simon Kinberg is planning a huge Fantastic Four/X-Men team-up movie...

The Daily Beast have sifted through more of the "Sony Hack" emails, and they reveal some potentially very interesting details about a few other upcoming superhero movies. First of all, after discussing plans for a shared Spider-Man Cinematic Universe (we'll bring you details on that a little later), Michael De Luca, co-president of production for Columbia Pictures, told Sony boss Amy Pascal that they should be trying to emulate what 20th Century Fox are planning on doing with the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises; a giant team-up movie! His source? Writer and producer Simon Kinberg. "[Simon] Kinberg told me fox is steering Xmen and Fantastic Four into an eventual team up film," De Luca revealed, confirming a long standing rumour in the process. It's unclear when all this might go down, but you have to imagine it will be at some point in the next few years with The Fantastic Four set for 2015 and X-Men: Apocalypse on the way the following year.

In other news, the site also reports that Jeff Nichols is seemingly going to direct Aquaman, the 2018 movie starring Jason Momoa. Nichols' credits include critically acclaimed releases like Mud and Take Shelter, and he actually seems like the perfect fit for what you have to imagine will be a visually very distinct movie. It's not clear if this is 100% confirmed as of right no

As long as Zack Snyder is producing it - I'm comfortable with this guy.

You need the love of Aquaman to make him legit.

Never would have guessed that!

But also we don't want another Green Lantern disaster. You need a director who has previously worked with animation and visual effects to build the underwater life.

I'd rather have an Avengers/Inhumans/X-Men/Fantastic Four/Spider-man team-up that can only happen if they return to Marvel.

As for this, its a pipe dream scenario depending on the successfulness of the new fantastic four films, which everything has told us will suck

Why would have FOX kept that X-men and The Fantastic Four will be in a shared cinematic universe, would'nt have been better if FOX told the public about it?

Haven't seen "Mud" or "Take Shelter" but i am looking forward to Aquaman.

I think te X-Men work better in their own universe. Let Marvel take charge of SM and F4. Don't want Xm teamin up with the Fail Four.

Bryan Singer already teased a 'Marvel mash up', and since Fox has a mistery X-Men movie set for 2018, we can already guess what movie it is.

Oh, and if Fantastic Four is set in our present, the crossover would make sense with the adult X-Men, not the past ones

@0megaDaGod

You're forgetting the Flash and potentially Del Toro for JLD. Either way, that is a solid unit.

They should get George Miller to direct Flash. Because hot damn that would be great.

@0megaDaGod

If he doesn't have an exclusive contract with Disney, I rather him direct Shazam!
