The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is #1 at the worldwide box office for a second week in a row (it opened in many international territories last week) with a haul of $105 million from overseas. Combined with what it earned last week, that gives it an international total of $105.5 milion. Throw in the fact that the threequel has exceeded expectations in North America with $90.6 million - which is quite a bit more than initial estimates of $80 million and more than the first two films opened with - and it has now reached $355 million worldwide after just 12 days of release. $20.1 million has been brought in from IMAX screens, but there's no word on what kind of difference HFR may have made, a format which unfortunately hasn't been embraced by moviegoers since debuting with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Have you seen the movie?

I'm glad this is doing so well. Action-Packed movie but definitely the most subpar of the trilogy

Aw man, I want to be part of a secret message with Minty and Josh too =(

Also, these figures make it a safe bet that this movie eclipses $1 billion. No comment.

It totally deserves it, its really the best of the trilogy and fixed many of the horrid pacing issues Desolation suffered from.

@Minty: The fact that Steve DeKnight has finished shooting the finale does not mean that the series has wrapped principal photography. Netflix shows are obviously completed before being released, and there's every chance they still have other episodes to finish. A main page article declaring that principal photography has concluded with no confirmation could potentially get picked up by other sites and damage CBM's credibility if it was later revealed to not be the case. You're lucky it's a decent article, because something like that would normally be deleted. :)

@JoshWilding - Fair play. That's good info for future reference. Glad it wasn't moved cause it was terribly written or something like that. And cheers at least for getting back to me Josh. I'd say I'm sorry for the gif up top but I like it too much to delete it :P

@StarFox

Dude it was a several page thread........I need to find it. Basically the member was posting a news article that WB was laying off. And yes the WB is laying off but in other divisions to make a leaner more profitable organization.

It was the funniest thing ever.

LOL! What's ironic about it is that Warner Bros. is actually the biggest Entertainment studio even surpassing Disney.

@starfox warner bros has been the most successful movie studio for the last 3 years. You would never know it from the way disney trolls who try to manufacture and push hate towards them.

But yeah its true, they are a studio that generally tries to make good movies and are loved by their creative talent for the freedom given to them to express themselves on camera. NO superhero movies this year from wb although technically 300 and even the lego movie could pass.

tonytony - 12/21/2014, 4:02 PM
my bad i should say warner bros has been the top studio in 4 of the last 5 years, they narrowly missed out to Paramount in 2012, but reclaimed it in 2013.

Exactly! Warner Bros. produces the most films and television series as well as bringing in the most return. People may not want to admit it but DC is in great hands in terms of marketing ;)

Lol @SauronsBANE! And here's me thinking you'd be so happy to see the Hobbit movies doing well :P

Haha even though I don't mind these films, they're a significant step down from the LOTR trilogy. It's sad that Warners won't care about the impact of splitting it into 3 films had on the quality - they just pocketed a shedload of extra money from this one. Damn you Hollywood.
