Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”) stars as Napoleon Solo opposite Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as Illya Kuryakin in director Guy Ritchie’s action adventure “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” a fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s television series. Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” centers on CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin.  Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology.  The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.

Directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Henry Cavill, Armie Hammie,Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, and Jared Harris, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will be released on August 14th, 2015. Excited?

Henry Cavill is looking very James Bond there.

It would be awesome to see him play 007 after Daniel Craig's contract expires.

I watched the entire series on Netflix, I'm actually interested in this movie. Still don't get why Cavill is playing the American and not the Russian, Armie Hammer better bring it.

@Brainiac13 Yah, I remember hearing about that.

Well, now that he is older, I don't see that being a problem anymore.

Cavill can act, as evidenced by each of his roles thus far. Playing Napoleon Solo will take skill, as the show and character are so iconic. There's a weird, subtle humor, even silliness, in the cold war TV era TV show. Certainly, we want the film to retain that. I was really hoping for Soderberg to direct this, but we'll see what Guy Richie does. I've looked forward to an UNCLE movie for many years….please don't muck it up!

Anyway, let's see how this movie does. I hope it does well, it's the only movie Cavill has started since MOS.

In that first pic, Cavill's rocking the Evil Superman look from Superman 3. I can just see him in a bar, heavy scowl in place, destroying low-end liquor bottle by flicking peanuts from the counter.

I'm excited about this. Never really was into Man from U.N.C.L.E. though the name is clearly familiar.

Guy Ritchie's involvement doesn't hurt either.
