RUMOR: Angelina Jolie Wanted By Marvel Studios To Direct CAPTAIN MARVEL

Take this with a pinch of salt for the time being, but a new report claims that Marvel are willing to pay Unbroken helmer Angelina Jolie upwards of $20 million to take charge of Captain Marvel. Why are they so desperate to land the actress turned filmmaker? Read on for details...

According to OK! Magazine, Angelina Jolie is being eyed to direct Captain Marvel. Before we go any further, bear in mind that they are basically a gossip magazine, and if this was true, we would have likely heard something from the trades by now! On the other hand, they're reasonably respected (and certainly above the likes of The Sun and The National Enquirer). Anyway, their sources have apparently told them that Marvel Studios were so impressed by Unbroken that they're offering the actress turned director a whopping $20 million to helm their first female led superhero movie. "Having  female director is a priority for them. She never thought she'd be in such huge demand as a director, and to be courted by Marvel after the Sony fiasco is a huge pat on the back." It would certainly make sense for Kevin Feige to target Jolie for Captain Marvel, and she would bring a lot more attention to the fairly obscure property than many other female directors. Thoughts?

I've seen Unbroken and no Angie shouldn't. They should go for proven director Katheryn Bigelow who directed Point Break and Hurt Locker.

I want Jolie as Death in a Marvel film.
Watch Thanos try to gain her interest.
He sees her with the lovely human face & looks disgusted.
Angelina's face turns into the grim visage of a skull..Thanos smiles.

I'm pretty sure that they want a woman's point of view like Warner Bros. did with their Wonder Woman.

@V8ER some parts where okay, but the characterisation and development were poor. It didn't feel like a movie where a story is told, but a series of events. The casting of Watanabe was a joke.

I feel like Marvel is more obligated to do so bc Warners hired a female director for Wonder Woman. I think it would be nice when we see a day where a woman is hired to direct any superhero film. I know Warners were still looking for female directors for their other projects but McLaren so happens to be selected for Wonder Woman. Marvel on the other hand...

@kinghulk

90% of the directors they get are probably not fans or that educated about the material before hand. Captain Marvel isnt well known. Reading and Researching is still a thing you know, they could do that :/

@Jeight

How? Its not like she's just a celebrity. She's a humanitarian that helps ppl and seems grounded to where she appreciates wjat she has. I have yet to see a person give a valid reason to why they dont liem her except just stating it with no explanation.

FordEl- im well aware of that :/, it just feels like they are getting a woman for the sake of it. like there was a rumor a while ago that WB where only considering women for the job which is the wrong mentality. they should look for the best director for the job not the best woman, like marvel hired that director for thor 2 before she left.

either way hopefully they get a good director like the person who directed hurt locker.

Marvel is at a point now where they are completely unconcerned about how "obscure" a property is. All they have to do is place From Marvel Studios at the beginning of each new film and it will sell.
