Welcome back to the Wastelands, a land dominated by victorious super villains. The greatest heroes the world has ever known – butchered and murdered by their arch-enemies. Tyrants, terrors and madmen now rule over the dusty wastes with an iron fist. Hope left this land a long time ago. But there is one man who may yet make a difference. A man with nothing else to lose…

“The original Old Man Logan story is a modern masterpiece,” says Marvel SVP, Sales & Marketing David Gabriel. “Fans have clamored for a return to that world and that character and Secret Wars has blown that door wide open. Bendis and Sorrentino are going to deliver an event-caliber story and an epic return for a fan-favorite that should NOT BE MISSED!”

Now, amidst the fury and chaos of Battleworld, a reluctant warrior pops his claws again and returns to combat. And the war for Battleworld begins in his own backyard. As the events of SECRET WARS unfold, will he find his life’s mission to rid the world of evil more attainable – or more impossible than ever before?

The drums of war beat in the Wasteland. And a hero is reforged in the fiery crucible of Battleworld. The journey begins with a resounding SNIKT this May as the X-Man formerly known as Wolverine crashes in to Secret Wars for OLD MAN LOGAN #1!

Is this a rehash from a new writer and artist or is it a new story?

Jvice, I could not agree more! Old Man Logan should become the one true Wolverine of the Marvel Universe. Best version of the character ever.

Huh, I thought I remember reading Steve McNiven was returning to do the artwork. No offense to this other artist(I don't think I've ever seen his work) but I'd rather have McNiven back. He's probably one of my favorite artists.

They need to do another X-Men or Wolverine movie where for some reason Logan has to be sent into the future and cast Stephen Lang or Michael Biehn as Wolverine.

Stephen Lang imo should be cast as Cable. Michael Biehn is a better choice.

When I first read OML, it reminded me of Unforgiven, one of my favorite movies. 20 years ago, Clint would have killed it as Old Man Logan.

That would be awesome! I love Old Man Logan. He would be a great addition to the relaunched MU. Glad I'm not the only one

Still my favorite moment of the comic by far because just how dark and twisted it was.

it's the little details that make OML and interesting story. The big picture is kind of bleak and boring, but I love the little bits like the kid who gained Ant-Man's helmet, the Venom t-rex, and "Pym Falls"

It's like a Fallout video game had a crossover with the Marvel Universe

Old Man Logan no he didn't die in fact the comic ended with him going out into the world trying to save it.

@ManCalledSting

Mysterio probably set up something for the sense of smell or was given ways around it by other villains. Who knows maybe Wolverine went into such a berserker rage when confronted by all these villains attacking the kids he never noticed the smell.

Old Man Logan was the last great Wolverine story we've seen.
The mood was perfect, with great character moments.

The only reason I'm ok with revisiting that story is that the world it was set it was so awesome. It was bleak but with some sliver of hope, like Thor's hammer, a few heroes still around, and Reed Richards possibly still alive. Definitely enough material for more stories.

So we agree to collectively ignore the fact that OLD MAN LOGAN is a ripoff of PREACHER & THE SAINT OF KILLERS origin ?
pesmerga44
pesmerga44 - 2/14/2015, 6:11 PM
@Gulon180

I have never read Preacher but I read synopsis on Preacher and the character Saint of Killers and neither sounds much of anything like the Old Man Logan story. Unless of course you are talking about Saint of Killers and Logan's families being killed by a gang of outlaws either directly or indirectly and thus sending said character on a journey of revenge to kill all said outlaws. Then I would say to you Preacher ripped off tons of other past stories where a gang of outlaws, burglars, villains, etc... kill the main character's family thus driving the main character to a path of revenge.

pesmerga44 - 2/14/2015, 6:13 PM
@Gulon180

You are pulling at the thinnest of thinnest strings to call ripoff here buddy. It's like saying "A male main character getting revenge RIPOFF!" ya that is not even close to a ripoff.
pesmerga44
pesmerga44 - 2/14/2015, 6:16 PM
@Gulon180

Here is an easy one for you "The Outlaw Josey Wales" one of Clint Eastwood's most famous western films where his family is murdered by a gang of outlaws thus sending on a path of revenge to kill said outlaws. See Preacher and Saint of Killer's completely ripped off that movie right there.

Guys, Old Man Logan and the Saint of Killers are both Unforgiven rip-offs. A man who once was a brutal killer being changed into a good man by a woman but then through a series of events turning back to their killing ways. And I don't think either creators of those characters mind saying that's what they ripped their stuff off from.
pesmerga44
pesmerga44 - 2/14/2015, 7:25 PM
@WhiteSAMURAI22

I wasn't really saying Preacher is a ripoff of anything I was calling out the other guy for calling Old Man Logan a ripoff even though it is a very thin connection between them.

Nice to see a return to the Wastelands, but wake me when this Secret Wars Battleworld hooey is over and the reboot's done.
