FURIOUS 7 Director Is The Frontrunner To Helm AQUAMAN For Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has found a director for Wonder Woman and possibly The Flash, but it now appears as if they've got a helmer for Aquaman too. The success of Furious 7 has led to James Wan becoming a frontrunner, but what might stop him taking the job? Read on for details...

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that James Wan has emerged as the frontrunner to direct Aquaman for Warner Bros. The filmmaker has become a hot commodity following the release of Furious 7 (which is closing in on $400 million), and he does have an option for the eighth instalment if Universal decides to exercise that or he simply decides he wants to return the world of fast cars, beautiful women, and insane stunts. There are those who believe he won't for whatever reason.

Regardless, he's the frontrunner with Warner Bros. and some talks have already taken place between Wan and the studio. As of right now, Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad are still writing separate scripts for the project. Wan will next shoot the sequel The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, and does have some time before he would need to start work on Aquaman (which is set to be released on July 27th, 2018). Previous credits include Saw, the first two Insidious movies, and The Conjuring.

Haven't seen Furious 7 yet. Should I? Is it worth the effort?

I haven't seen Furious 7 either, but I've heard nothing but praise about the film.

@0megaDaGr0dd- The Wachowskis? Eh, you ask me, they haven't really made anything good since V for Vendetta. I'd rather they go with Guillermo Del Toro, but that's just my view.

Does that mean they're going to be racing seahorses in Aquaman?

Don't use Furious 7 as an example of Wan's talent. He did incredible work with 'The Conjuring', 'Saw', and the 'Insidious' franchise. He's a revolutionary horror director and deserves more credit than is given.

Back on topic

This news is nothing to get too exited about but He did direct insidious and the conjouring. I wouldn't be mad he ends up directing the movie.

@DanielleSiprelle Why I want him for JLD if Del Toro falls through. Also, I keep him getting Wan confused with Wong, but either dude will do the trick.

Nichols needs to be more than a rumor for Aquaman.

My ideal pick for Aquaman would be Duncan Jones. I hope he nabs Thor 3 though.

YES! We'll have a fun Aquaman! Haha, screw Eh Maybe! He's wrong about almost everything. Anything else he puts out is lucky speculation based on clues.

You all are pretty stupid he said direct not write the script what he bring visually plus the right script equals good movie. I'd understand if he's written and directed terrible movies but this guy has proven in the past that he's a capable talented director.

His work on The Conjuring was awesome.
It's rare to find actually scary movies nowadays.

Furious 7 was [frick]ing epic, James Wan would be awesome.
SpecialFX45
SpecialFX45 - 4/10/2015, 11:55 AM
That's actually not a bad choice. James Wan did a good job on Furious 7 but his vision on how to portray suspense like he does in horror movies would translate really well in a DCCU film. Mix that with action and a good script and it might just work.

This could be a really fun movie! Hopefully they use black manta instead of ocean master so people wont complain about the story being similar to Thor because you know that'll happen
