These FANTASTIC FOUR Behind The Scenes Issues Are Why Josh Trank Was Fired From STAR WARS
As you will have heard by now, Josh Trank is no longer directing one of the Star Wars Anthology movies. Based on this new report about his behaviour during the shooting of Fantastic Four, he won't be helming the sequel to that either! In fact, the reboot sounds like a real mess...
Rumours started doing the rounds during Fantastic Four production that there were some behind the scenes problems, and THR has confirmed many of those in a piece on Lucasfilm and Disney deciding to part ways with Josh Trank over their untitled Star Wars Anthology movie. One insider describes the Chronicle helmer's behaviour as "erratic" and at times "very isolated", and add that he offered no clear direction. "If you've got someone who can't answer questions or who isn't sure or is in hiding, that's not good," they add about what sounds like a very troubled shoot.
Fox responded to this by saying that they are "very happy with the movie and we can’t wait for audiences to see it," but acknowledge: "There were definitely some bumps in the road." Those include Trank running up $100,000 worth of damage to a house which was rented for him in New Orleans while Fantastic Four was being filmed in the city, while he's also been described by some as indecisive and uncommunicative. Though Trank remained on set, producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker were forced to step in and "help pull the film together", and were heavily involved in those reshoots. The production also had to add Stephen Rivkin (Avatar) to help pull the film together, despite the fact that Trank had hired his Chronicle editor, Elliot Greenberg, on the project.
When Kinberg reported all of these issues to Disney and Lucasfilm, they decided to not work with him, and you have to imagine that Fox won't want him back for Fantastic Four 2. Does that mean the movie going to be a mess? It's really too soon to tell, but it's not looking good. Somewhere, Kevin Feige has a huge grin on his face right now! As always, share your thoughts below!
