Second STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY Movie To Focus On BOBA FETT's Origin Story

We know that Gareth Edwards' Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One will revolve around a group out to steal the plans of the first Death Star, but a new report from a very reliable source reveals that the second (due for release in 2018) is going to focus on a fan-favourite character...

Josh Trank was recently dumped by Disney and Lucasfilm from the still untitled Star Wars Anthology movie, but it's still moving ahead even without a director currently at the helm. According to The Wrap, whoever takes over will get to tell the origin story of Boba Fett! It's going to be an origin story for the iconic character, presumably taking place some time after the events of Attack of the Clones. After all, the "adventures" of Boba as a kid wouldn't be all that exciting!

There had been rumours that Rogue One (which stars Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed) would revolve around bounty hunters, but it seems as if it will be this movie which delves into that world. There's no word on who's set to replace Trank or who will play Fett, so be sure to share your thoughts on who the right people for the job are below. Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has been rumoured for the role, but not from particularly reliable sources, so let's wait and see...

Also I really wish they did not cut out scene where Boba Fett ambushes IG-88 in Cloud City. At least we got to see the remains of IG-88 next to the furnace.

"Josh Trank was recently dumped"

Reporting the facts as always...Poor journalism, technically his official statement said he left on his own accord.
Whether it's true or not that's the statement they released.

Nice. There is absolutely no reason that they can't create a new backstory for Boba Fett. For all we know, the OT Boba Fett killed Jango Fett's son and took his armor/identity before his first appearance in TESB. To me that would be a much more interesting story.

Oh happy day!! I'm loving the idea of these anthology movies.

Aww hell yis to this!

Vaughn's a good shout, if he's interested. If not, what about Gareth Evans? That could be kinda cool...

I would rather see the movie start off with him clawing his way out of the sarlaac star from there.

@Minty Apparently Gareth Evans almost signed up for Tatum's GAMBIT but passed.

@Reasonnnn - Aww damn. That would have really got me excited for Gambit :/ Perhaps he's leaving his door open for bigger things... (though I'd love to see him have some involvement with Iron Fist too).

@ckal that could still happen no?

Vaughn can't do it, because of the sequel he's attached to

@Minty Yeah, that would've been insane. It's possible that he does a Star Wars film in the futuer with his cast in Episode VII and whatnot.

Also, for Iron Fist, what about that director, Kevin Tancharoen, to be showrunner? He'd be great too.

Joe Johnston! Get him, he has such an amazing idea for a Boba Fett movie!

Just going to say it: Boba Fett is a very over-hyped character. Yeah, he was cool - despite his death in Jedi - however, I don't think he, out of all the Star Wars universe, is deserving of a solo movie.

I hope they go with the idea that the Boba in the originals killed the Boba from the prequels, and just took his name and armor. That clone bullshit is…well…bullshit.
Minty

@Reasonnnn - Yeah that could work. Yeah I'd definitely be up for Kevin Tancharoen as Iron Fist showrunner. Loved every single episode of Agents Of SHIELD he's directed so far. He really elevates the fight scenes.

I liked Boba during the old trilogy but the prequels and even the tv show made him annoying in my opinion. Hopefuly they make him a badass again.

Sounds cool. Disney has been doing right by Star Wars so far.

Except for a couple things.......

If they're going to make an anthology film, Boba Fett is not the way to go. A Galen Marek aka Starkiller would make a perfect anthology film!

I hope they get Temuera Morrison to play BOBA FETT make sense as he is a clone of Jango Fett and they already redid the voice of Bobo Fett with his voice in the older films.

I like Boba Fett, but meeeeh -____-
Why not pick something fresh, something new ?? The SW universe is so vast. Shame to keep playing in the same sandbox.

@Minty Yeah, that skye long take gave me some solid feels.

They gotta be careful with this. A big part of what makes Boba Fett such an appealing character is his mystique. I think if you try and humanize him too much, you risk losing what ppl love about him. The prequels made that mistake with many characters!

I love the idea of a Boba Fett movie, but I concur with @ckal... An origin feels like a waste. I'd rather have a film that took place in the same time period as Rebels and/or Rogue One. Just him on a mission

Also hope they find a good director to make this movie.
