First Look At A Suited Up 'Cyclops' And 'Jean Grey' In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Concept Art

Will Cyclops and Jean Grey have costumes in X-Men: Apocalypse? It appears so, and they seem to have a lot in common with the ones they wear in the current All-New X-Men comic book! Hit the jump to check them out battling a mysterious threat in a wrecked city landscape...

Well, this is very interesting. The Pepsi sign definitely appears to indicate that the scene below from X-Men: Apocalypse is taking place in the 1980s rather than a desolate future of some sort, and it looks like Cyclops and Jean Grey are wearing costumes which are at least somewhat similar to the uniforms the youngsters have in the pages of All-New X-Men. Hey, at least it's not black leather anyway. Who they're battling isn't clear (Archangel seems like a likely candidate) or what that structure is, but common sense says it all has something to do with the movie's titular villain!

As well as returning cast members Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, and Ian McKellen, X-Men: Apocalypse will also introduce Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lana Condor, Oscar Isaac, Ben Hardy, Olivia Munn, and a number of others. The movie is set to be released on May 27th, 2016. What do you think of this latest concept art?

It's a little hard to tell how they'll look on film (this being a CONCEPT art after all). But it looks like they're wearing the usual gear that is associated with the majority of post-"apocalyptic" films. ;)

Can barely judge, but if it is primarily based off of the All New X-Men outfits, then I have to see the full design to judge.

I love All New X-Men, if this film is taking influence from that book then I couldn't be more pleased.

This is the most unrevealing picture in the world lol I can't tell what's happening what so ever. Did Kaare Andrews draw this?

Alright, can you guys help me? I'm a relatively new comic fan, having been introduced to these characters and worlds through the movies. After watching the films, I became fascinated with these characters, and learn a shit-ton more about them. Since Christmas, I've been amassing a growing collection of comic books, but as of now, it does not contain any X-Men comics. Is there a particular comic storyline or volume you guys would recommend to introduce me to the team? I do know a fair bit about them, but that's largely from browsing Marvel Database and related sites. I was thinking of buying Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men to start with.

@TheBritAvenger
I've read my fair share of X-Men stuff so I'll give my opinion on the past decade or so:

All New X-Men is (to me) the best recent X-Men book to come out. It's great and has the original five X-Men (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman and Angel). The only downside to it is that it is pretty reliant on pre-existing canon.
Astonishing X-Men would not be a bad place to start, it is the beginning of the somewhat radical path that the X-Men have gone down over the past 10 years.
X-Men Schism is enjoyable, it feels a lot like the films tonally, and House of M, while not being brilliant, impacts the Marvel universe in a big way.
Avengers V X-Men is not perfect by any means but it's worth the read, it is where an extremely different status quo emerged for the X-Men. All New and Uncanny come directly out of the ending of this book. This book is a must read if you want to get into the newest X-books.

As for some of the more classic stuff, Days of Future Past is a brilliant book and God Loves, Man Hates is one of my favourite Marvel stories.
Ultimate X-Men is great for someone who doesn't want to get bogged down with Marvel-616, the team is brilliant (basically the team from X2), it's not too old, it's widely available and features a number of brilliant stories. The updated takes on Marvel's best mutants are almost all for the better.
