Recently Discovered Original Script For STAR WARS Finally Confirms Who Shot First

George Lucas' decision to have Greedo shoot first in Star Wars: A New Hope has generated a lot of controversy over the years, with the director maintaining that was always the plan. Well, the original script for the movie has been discovered, and it finally reveals the truth...

It's an argument which has been raging for years; who shot first - Han Solo or Greedo? The theatrical version of Star Wars indicated that it was the former, but George Lucas' alterations to his movies has made things less clear, with Greedo now shown to be the one who shoots first. The filmmaker has defended that a number of times, claiming that it was always his intention for Greedo to pull the trigger before Han, but it seems like we may now have a definitive answer.

According to CBC (via The Playlist), the original script - dated March 15th, 1976 - for Star Wars: A New Hope has been found in the University of New Brunswick library. It's believed to be the fourth draft, but there are some changes like Luke Skywalker being "Luke Starkiller". Regardless, librarian Kristian Brown claims that, "Based on the script, I can tell you 100 per cent, Han shot first."

Does this settle the argument? Not really, as Lucas could have changed his mind during shooting for all we know! This does at least show that Han was originally intended to shoot first though, but don't expect answers from Harrison Ford while he's promoting Star Wars: The Force Awakens this December. Asked about who shot first last year, the actor said: "I don’t know and I don’t care."

Knew it, now it's confirmed. The whole "I always intended for Greedo to shoot first" is bullshit.

The older I get, the more stupid and pointless this debate comes. Heck even as a kid I had to ask myself why does ANYONE care. It doesn't affect a single facet of the series, but people get so stupidly up-in-arms about it. I'm on Harisson Ford's side. Who cares.

Great. Now that this debate has been settled, Jilly can rest easy.

Watch the original cut of the movie. Han not only shot first, he was the ONLY one who shot.

Han shot first, but Harrison's response is the best one.

And really, was there ANYBODY besides Lucas who said that Greedo shot first?

Han not shooting first has killed my anticipation for a Thanos and Hulk one on one battle.

I wish Han used his sweet neck moves more often to dodge gun fire in the movies.

Han didnt shoot first, lol

The finalized product is what becomes fact. Would we all prefer Han to shoot 1st? Sure. But its Lucas's work, and if we dont like it, then too bad.

Haha, yeah, this is way bigger an issue than I thought. I love this stuff though, it'll be really cool to see Star Wars in the spotlight again. Can't wait to see it

It's controversial for three reasons:

1. It's fundamentally out of character for Han to wait for Greedo to shoot before defending himself, especially when you consider that the scene only exists specifically as character development. It doesn't serve the plot in any way. It's like James Bond sauntering up to the bar and ordering a Diet Coke.

2. It's representative of all the other stupid little unnecessary changes Lucas made that ultimately do more harm than good to the films.

3. Lucas is obviously lying to the fans when he claims he always meant for it to be that way. We may be basement-dwelling losers, George, but we aren't stupid. Don't be a dick to the people who made you disgustingly wealthy.

Dude...don't expose this shit to your son. Show him something good first! Or at least allow him to grow up and develop a sex life before you ruin it with Star Wars, lol.
