RUMOR: Chris Terrio To Write And Ben Affleck To Direct THE BATMAN For 2018 Release

A new report has surfaced which reveals more about Warner Bros.' plans for the Caped Crusader to star in his own movie, and they're very exciting indeed. Meanwhile, we also have details on the big idea Fox has for the Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises in 2018 as well...

Some time ago, we heard about a solo movie for Ben Affleck's Dark Knight titled The Batman. According to Latino-Review, that's still happening, and it still has that title! While Aquaman and The Flash are both set to be released in 2018, it appears as if Warner Bros. are concerned about their movies being lost in the shuffle in what's looking like a very Marvel heavy year. That's why they're planning to pit The Batman against Captain Marvel in November of that year, retaliation perhaps for Captain America: Civil War forcing them to move Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

The site adds that Chris Terrio (who wrote Batman v Superman and will pen both Justice League movies) is set to work on The Batman too, with Ben Affleck starring and directing. Could the Caped Crusader finally win an Oscar? It's certainly possible with a team like that. Oh, and that mysterious Marvel movie has dated for 2018? If all goes to plan with Fantastic Four in August, that's being reserved for a crossover with the X-Men. This is all strictly a rumour for now, but it gives us plenty to think about! What do you guys think about this news? As always, sound off below...

I was quite shocked when there was no Batman movie on DC's slate to begin with. But Affleck directing and Terrio writing sounds fantastic.

In terms of a F4/X-Men crossover, it's too soon. The F4 needs to be built up 1st and so does this new team after Apocalypse.

I'm getting WAY more excited for the DC stuff right now then anything Marvel has on thier slate.

The DC stuff just seems so refreshing and almost like a palette cleanser.

@Platinum I think Terrio is a good writer. The only thing of his I've seen is Argo.

And I'm not into politics at all but it was a fantastic movie. I'm excited to see what he does with superheroes.

The only choice for the first DCCU Batman solo film is obvious!

It would help establish the past Robins and since the Joker and Harley come out in Suicide Squad it would make sense that Red Hood appears after the supposed Joker escape from Arkham.

I don't see either of these 2 things happening

WB already has Fantastic Beasts 2 for November 2018 and Terrio already wanted to move on into directing before WB got him for Justice League

With all the attention that Jason todd will receive it would be stupid to not include him as the red hood in the new batman film with the joker of course! I could see Taron Egerton (my top pick for spiderman) taking the role of Jason since he portrayed a street tough youth pretty well

@Nomis Yup, and I love that DC is doing something that the MCU should had been doing from the start. Is having other heroes in the other movies.

Marvel is getting better at that now, but I'll be honest when I watch MCU movies. Sometimes I forget that its a universe because it's like, why don't the heroes interact more outside of The Avengers?

@TheEpicJuiceBox I was thinking Logan Lerman, considering he wasn't chosen for Spider-Man and he seems like he would rather chose a big serious role like Jason Todd. Affleck directing, Terrio writing, Leto as the Joker, Robbie as Quinn, and Irons as Alfred? I'm sure he wouldn't pass it up if asked.

It's hard to get excited for something 3 years away, but July 2018 is packed.

July 6 - Black Panther
July 13 - X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover
July 20 - Animated Spider-Man
July 27 - Aquaman

CBM overload.

Meh. I was hoping one of Batman sidekicks would get a movie instead. Here's hoping they adapt Under the Red Hood. That would be pretty exciting.

Indifferent to the FF/X-Men. Sounds incredibly forced and only done in order to compete with Avengers and Justice League.
