Zack Snyder Says WONDER WOMAN Is The "Gateway Drug" To JUSTICE LEAGUE
It sounds like Wonder Woman's role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be even bigger than any of us previously imagined based on new comments from director Zack Snyder. Gal Gadot meanwhile weighs in on the pressures of transforming herself into the Amazonian warrior...
As Entertainment Weekly rightly points out, there hasn't been a single superhero movie released featuring a female lead since Iron Man and The Dark Knight rejuvinated the superhero movie genre in 2008. That's all set to change with Wonder Woman in 2017 of course, but we'll meet her for the first time in next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, brace yourselves for more than just a cameo appearance from the character. "She plays a super-important part," says director Zack Snyder. "In a lot of ways, she’s the gateway drug to
the rest of the
Justice League."
That sounds huge, but Gal Gadot didn't let the pressure get to her though (at least not at first). That was mainly because she went into the audiotion with no idea that she was up for the role of Wonder Woman. In fact, Snyder had her read a scene from Pulp Fiction! "I knew [the role] was big and it was for one of the franchises. He said, ‘Well, I don’t know how big she is in Israel…’ and my jaw just dropped. There are so many expectations for this character, it’s impossible not to
be a little nervous about it." As for the training needed to transform Gadot into the iconic DC Comics character, she tells the site that she relished the opportunity. "I love doing the swordplay stuff. It’s another skill to add to my collection." The lasso? "I’m still
working on that." What do you think?
