No New STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Trailer Or Footage Coming During Comic-Con

Marvel not showing up has made this year's Comic-Con feel more than a little underwhelming, but it's now been revealed that the Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel won't feature any new footage from the movie. In fact, we're going to be waiting some time for the next trailer...

Entertainment Weekly has the scoop on Disney and Lucasfilm's Comic-Con plans for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it's more than a little underwhelming, a word which seems to fairly accurately sum up this year's event so far. The Hall H panel will not include a new trailer or even a clip from the movie; in fact, the trailer isn't expected to debut until this Fall. So, what will happen on Friday?

Well, there will be a behind the scenes look at the movie (featuring behind the scenes footage and interviews), while J.J. Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan, Kathleen Kennedy, and a number of cast members are all set to attend. That doesn't sound like the most memorable of panels then, and it seems like Disney might be holding the best stuff back until D23. Oh well, at least we have Warner Bros.' DC Comics movie panel to look forward to. Here's hoping that doesn't end up disappointing too, eh?

Makes sense that they'd wait until D23

WOW. That sucks. While I am very excited for this film to be released, I can't help but be bothered by the amount of information being held back from the audience here. I understand that it is the typical Abrams style, but really? 2 teaser trailers, a poster with the standard logo, and a Vanity Fair photo shoot. That's all they have to advertise this film so far that actually gives the viewers some hint as to what is coming in December. I do think this movie will be good, but with these tactics it would have been really easy to cover up another bad addition to the Star Wars saga. I feel like the least they could do at this panel is discuss characters, not necessarily plot elements, but the new blood of the film and address at least some of the rumors whirling around this production.

WB literally just needs to show off a trailer and they win.

Saving it for Disney's event later this year perhaps. Kind of seems D23 is THE event this year for movies.

This and BVS were the only things worth paying attention to. Now that is even dumbed down. Star Wars could have given BVS a run for its money. But why do that when you can just run on the brand name and not have to actually show much of the final product...

Marvel, LucasFilm and Disney will skip Comic-Con in 2015, 2017, 2019, etc etc because of D23.

Not a shocker. Plus, Hollywood is slowly pulling studios away from the convention.

When is D23 again? I feel like we already got a ton of the BVS news this week, can't imagine what else they would have to share besides a new Trailer, maybe a teaser for Suicide Squad, and possibly a logo for Justice League Part One to create hype.

LOL when people said shit along the lines of "Who cares if Marvel won't beat DC, Star Wars is gonna beat DC by a landslide"

Remember all those people who were trying to discount WB and said that Star Wars would "steal the show" and "beat DC"? I wonder what those people are currently doing as they read this news...

Must be awkward...

If DC disappoints, this may very well be the worst CC of all time (when it comes to SDCC). In reality, it would be the same as any NYCC.

It's like Disney is purposefully trying to discourage fans from attending Comic-Con by making their panels super boring, and leaking details of it in advanced so that many fans lose interest in attending. It's like they want people to not care about the event where DC will be introducing the Justice League.

Oh, hey that's actually smart.

I feel bad for some of you. Honestly, I do. You were so hung-ho about Star Wars stealing the show and beating DC, and now you're suddenly back peddling and changing your song.

Shame.
