RUMOR: Michael Fassbender And James McAvoy Sign On For More X-MEN Movies

We know that Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy's X-Men contract comes to an end with next year's X-Men: Apocalypse, but a new rumour points to them reportedly signing a new deal with Fox to continue playing Magneto and Professor X. Hit the jump for details on that and more...

Both Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy have previously expressed interest in returning as Magneto and Professor X once their contract comes to an end with X-Men: Apocalypse, and it now appears as if Channing Tatum's Gambit deal wasn't the only one closed by Fox this weekend. According to a new report, the duo have reportedly signed on to reprise their respective roles in future X-Men movies. So, both characters clearly survive the events of the 2016 movie anyway!

The franchise wouldn't be the same without them, and while it's not clear how many more movies Fassbender and McAvoy will star in, we obviously haven't seen the last of the two mutant friends turned enemies in Fox's X-Men Universe. It's also mentioned that Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence are wanted by the studio to return as Beast and Mystique, but as has been previously reported, the latter seems unlikely to commit. Take this with a pinch of salt until we hear something more concrete, but how do you feel about the prospect of more Magneto and Professor X?

If they keep having these movies take place ten years apart, then I have no idea how they can have either of them come back without covering them in makeup. Hell, they're already too young to play these characters in Apocalypse.

Still think they should have done another movie with the cast they've got before Apocalypse, if Fassbinder and co don't stay on can't see Channing Tatum and sansa stark carrying the franchise

@0megaDaGr0dd

Magneto is every bit an X-Men and Charles main nemesis. He was leader of one of the teams at one point also. I rather have more Magneto than any other mutant, including Charles.

I agree that they're too young to play the characters as fast as the series is moving, but I don't want to lose them because their chemistry is off the charts.

I am really interested to see if these two actors will reup their contracts for the x-men films. These two actor are not the type of actors to stay in the franchise for that long. These guys strike me as actors that would like to do new projects every year rather than staying in one franchise. I'd love to see them do 3 more movies though personally. With Fox expanding there X-men Universe they can probably do it if they wanted to.

I'm okay with this, as long as Magneto doesn't ultimately become the true villain again for the sixth time.
