Miles Teller Isn't Expecting FANTASTIC FOUR To Do Particularly Well On Rotten Tomatoes

The cast of Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot are currently promoting the movie without having even seen it, and Miles Teller (Reed Richards) talks here about why he isn't expecting the divisive release to hit the high numbers on review aggregator, Rotten Tomatoes...

The negative buzz surrounding Fantastic Four is showing no signs of going away, and while the reviews which are expected online tomorrow may help to change that, even the cast are aware of how fans and moviegoers alike currently perceive the movie. When star Miles Teller was asked by BBC Newsbeat if he's ready to prove the critics wrong, he couldn't make any promises in that respect because: "We haven't seen the film either." That's a good way to distance himself from the movie if the reboot - which apparently had as many as 40 pages of reshoots - goes horribly wrong!

"Rarely are films of this size critically well received," he added. "This is not a movie we're going to go on Rotten Tomatoes and it's going to be at 80 or 90 per cent. We did try to do something more than soulless, popcorn action. We tried to make something coming from a more dramatic standpoint so we're hoping that people enjoy it and recognise that we're trying to do something original." Teller makes a good point there, but there are plenty of blockbusters and superhero movies which have been critically acclaimed enough to reach the 80s and 90s on Rotten Tomatoes. The fact that the actor is so sure this one won't doesn't exactly sound like he's that confident in it...

Many big comicbook movies have gone down very well with critics. Both Marvel and DC. I'm hearing a lot of excuses for this movie from the people who made it...

As I said before; the only people looking forward to this movie are people that don't care about comics, and hate comic book fans.

Early on, Trank, Teller and Jordan all said that they weren't making it for the fans. Instead, making it for people who care nothing about the source material. Does that make any since, from an artistic OR business standpoint?

Idk if it's a confidence issue but this is his first CBM and hes probably one of those actors who think CBMs arent well received by critics cause he's been The Spectacular Now and Whiplash both small time films with extremely high rt scores

Didn't X-Men Days of Future Past end up being a critical success as well as a box office one?

"I caught a certain movie at a public showing. As I am not covering or reviewing it, I have been told I do not have to respect the embargo... #FantasticFour Impressive, virtuoso, ceaseless moviemaking. Impressive twists in operatic finale. Tense! Surprise of the Summer? YES!"

This film will likely do well by film critics. Expect between a 65%-85% on RT.

People need to remember, critics don't give a single [frick] about source material or faithfulness. They give a [frick] about how well the movie is alone.

Fans will be mixed similar to TASM & MOS.

This film will likely get a sequel.
