Sorry, But It Sounds Like Fox Are Forging Ahead With That FANTASTIC FOUR Sequel

We've all spend this past weekend fantasising about the prospect of the Fantastic Four returning to Marvel Studios, but it doesn't sound like it's happening! According to a new report, Fox are intent on making that 2017 sequel a reality, so hit the jump for further details...

I'm not sure whether this is a surprise or not! Despite the fact that Fox are looking at a loss of around $60 million on Fantastic Four, the prospect of them throwing in the towel and handing the rights back to Marvel Studios always seemed a bit too good to be true. Despite the fact that the movie pretty much f**ked everything up, a sequel could fix at least a few of its mistakes (that was just a Doombot, right? Right?!), and HitFix has heard that that is indeed the plan as of right now. "Everything I've heard would indicate that the studio will move forward with a Fantastic Four sequel. It may not make that original 2017 date, but they're definitely planning to make it."

Before you doubt this claim, these comments come from the same person who revealed that Marvel and Sony were talking about making a deal for Spider-Man. The site also adds further fuel to the Josh Trank vs. Fox fire as they add that those early reports about the movie being totally scrapped may have been correct. "He may claim that his cut a year ago was amazing, but that opinion was not shared by the majority of the people working on the film. There were internal conversations at that point about potentially scrapping everything. That's how strong the concerns were." Would you like to see Fox's Fantastic Four get a second chance in a sequel?

I think McGee would make a better villain than Doom.

I just can't see it. Its posturing and spin. They would have to recast. Shelf Doom because no one likes this version. What's next Fox announces a Franklin Richards spinoff. Like Dr Doom said this is TASM3 talk.

@AlexanderLykins Yeah but stop being so [frick]ing obnoxious, he's honestly not coming across as the douchebag in that scenario.

I don't believe it.

There was also going to be a Green Lantern 2 and TASM 3 and Sinister Six and Spin Offs

Alex, could you please explain how exactly I'm a "pretentious douchebag"? I like to think that I'm one of the nicer people in this community. But, if you see something that suggests otherwise, let me know.

I don't think expressing an opinion about a movie, albeit a controversial one, makes me a douchebag. However, you randomly calling me out and insulting me with no good reason suggests that you, in fact, are the douchebag in this scenario. You sound more rude and hostile than you are suggesting that I was.

If you want to discuss this further, @AlexanderLykins, hit me up on Twitter. Otherwise, good day. :)

The 5 Stages of Grief of Canceling a Franchise.

1) Anger: "Josh Trank is a doo-doo head."

2) Denial: "We're still planning on making the sequel..."

3) Depression: "...though we may delay it while we retool..."

4) Bargaining: "Hold on, Kevin's on the line."

5) Acceptance: "I accept your terms, Mr. Feige."

Digging their own grave.

Can't imagine any respectable non-hack director wanting to latch onto this franchise.

Maybe Brett Ratner, McG or Len Wiseman!

We're talking about the guy who brought us a good X-Men movie after a meh and a bad one. Although, Fantastic Four reached new limits of being a bad movie.

Again? "Fox are intent on making..."

Learn your grade school grammar if you ever want to be taken seriously as a blogger. Fox is not a person, it's an entity. So the correct phrase would be "Fox is intent on making..."

My one free lesson for you and your horrendous grammar. You're welcome.

Clickbait article. This is a bullshit. Superman Returns also had similar talk and you see what happened there.
DallasAvenger

Well that's funny. The silver lining though I guess is that despite being one of the worst CBMs ever made, the film actually ends off at a pretty good spot for the team (although not for the character of Dr. Doom). So a sequel could work as long as you make it completely different and very unlike the first one, even so far as the character's personalities being completely different. And keep Trank and his awful terrible horrible no-good ideas away from all future Fantastic Four projects.
