More Spoilery Details About How CONSTANTINE Fits Into ARROW's Fourth Season

We know that Constantine's arrival in Star City has something to do with Sara Lance, but Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle has now revealed new details about both that, and whether or not this really is going to be a one-off appearance for the fan-favourite character...

Yesterday's news that John Constantine is coming to Arrow was met with open arms by fans of his now cancelled series, but there's been an awful lot of talk about his appearance in episode five of The CW series being only a one off. Even if that is the case - which I don't think it is; Matt Ryan being added to the cast of DC's Legends of Tomorrow honestly makes more sense - Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle wouldn't confirm or deny anything either way. "Right now, it really was -- it’s born out of necessity for this particular story. I think Mark was right, it is a one off and this is what we’re focusing on right now." I'm not sure about you, but I'm not buying that for a second!

Mericle did however drop some fresh details on how much of a role Constantine is going to play in the return of Sara Lance. "It was born more out of the storyline for Sara Lance. We needed someone to come in and help bring her back," she revealed. "He felt like the most exciting possibility and we’re just thrilled to get him. He brings such a different element to the show." This is the same John we came to know and love in his short-lived NBC story though, right? "Absolutely. He is coming in fully as who he was on the show. We’re getting wardrobe. We’re very excited to have him. He’s a tremendous actor. It’s so cool to have that cross-pollination. We are very lucky and DC was very generous letting us have him." Generous? They do own the rights to him!

Unless Matt Ryan is too busy to commit to a recurring role as Constantine, it surely makes the most sense for him to play a role in Legends of Tomorrow as I've mentioned above. He would be a great addition to that series (especially as he's clearly going to play a major role in bringing back Sara), so here's hoping enough people tune into this episode to ensure that The CW realises we want to see more of him. What do you guys think? As always, be sure to let us know in the usual place.

Ahh-- so the title "Haunted" probably refers to Constantine having to help reunite Sara's wayward soul (long since departed) with her now-living body! Kinda like Kevin Smith's "Quiver" storyarc, where Oliver's body had been resurrected by Parallax, but his soul was still in heaven (until it finally decided to rejoin with him).

Color me intrigued.

I hope he has a recurring role on Arrow or a spot on Legends of Tomorrow. Constantine was a great show, I'm glad that they found a way to continue it somehow.

They keep saying "one-off", "one-shot", "one-type deal"....they're hiding something. You just know it.

@TheFox

So you could say that Constantine, in this Quiver-like tale, represents Hal Jordan/Spectre?

Would be a sly easter eggs on many levels for John to mention Spectre then, who we saw the pre-Spectre days of Corrigan.

I hope he's someone who can flutter between all 3 shows and be a recurrent thread,
Maybe whenever they have a magical problem he can solve it

Re-introduce the show on the CW or Netflix and call it Hellblazer. If that doesn't happen at least make Constantine a rotating character on LOT/Flash/Arrow if not a regular player.

Del Toro said months ago he may not direct JLD but he will produce the film he his script will be used.

He's still involved, just not directing.

The CW Needs to lose a couple of shows and re-brand themselves DCTV.Also,if we all want more Constantine, then make sure you watch episode 5 this season.Whether or not you like Arrow,at least watch this episode. Then blow it up on social media.CW is very driven by it.That is where we make a difference.

@Zordan How awesome would that be!!!Imagine the exchanges between Lucifer and Constantine.

By the way,if you haven't seen the pilot for Lucifer, find it and watch it.It was pretty good.It would fit perfectly into a Constantine/JLD universe.
