VIDEO GAMES: Behold The Battle Of Jakku In New STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT Screens

Jakku is the planet featured heavily in the trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront video game will take us to the planet nearly three decades before the events of that movie take place. Hit the jump for two incredible new images...

The Battle of Jakku took place place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, and will be available as free DLC for those who buy Star Wars Battlefront. In the artwork below, a Star Destroyer has crash landed, and from the belly of this battle-scarred metal giant, a myriad of Imperial ground troops have evacuated and engaged with Rebel troops, also strangers to this desert planet. "There’s a David and Goliath theme to this," says DICE Concept Artist Anton Grandert. "The epic, huge super structures of the Star Destroyers contrast against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces. We wanted to portray a battle completely surrounding you, in every direction. Debris is falling from the sky, telling the story of battles above. On the surface of the planet you can see ground troops as well as X-wings, all taking part of the fight."

Star Wars Battlefront is the ultimate Star Wars battle experience, brought to life by DICE – creators of the award-winning Battlefield series. Fight in epic Star Wars battles on iconic planets and rise through the ranks playing as the heroic Rebellion or the evil galactic Empire. Whether fighting through blaster-wielding troops, or piloting your favorite Star Wars combat vehicles like snowspeeders, speeder bikes, and AT–ST’s – Star Wars Battlefront puts you at the center of the galactic conflict!

Still not sure about EA and DICE handling this, the E3 demo didn't really give me any confidence what so ever. It honestly looked and felt like a Battlefield game with a Star Wars skin.

They failed incredibly with this. The lack of a story/single-player was their biggest mistake. Also, I don't know why people believe that the gameplay videos are actually going to look the same in real life. Since this game is only multiplayer, the lag and glitches will most likely consume it.

Got to play a firefight demo with another player at D23 Expo.

With it being a new game and me unfamiliar with the layout, I was a bit off but I had a good time.

dethpillow - I would say that they're both similar in terms of huge scale battles, the inclusion of vehicular combat and classes. But to me, they've always felt different in terms of gameplay.

Meh, gimme KOTOR 3, Republic Commando 2, 1313 or Force Unleashed 3. Don't care for EA/DICE's run. Nothing looks re-inventing or fresh. Hell, the demo they played on PC made Halo: Reach from 2010 look like Witcher 3, graphics wise.

EA/DICE even said they made this game as simplistic as possible so that all ages could play. That should give you an idea of it's fun-factor and longevity... Anyone remember Wii Sports? That game that was fun for 2 hours? Yea...
