Stephen Rider Joins The Cast Of DAREDEVIL's Second Season In Key Recurring Role

Elektra and The Punisher have already been added to the second season of Daredevil, but what about Bullseye? Well, that's not who Stephen Rider will be playing when the show returns to Netflix next year, but he is a character from the comics. Hit the jump to find out who...

We've had a lot of Luke Cage casting news this week, but Daredevil - which is currently shooting in New York - has also added another actor today. That's Stephen Rider (Lee Daniels' The Butler), and he's set to play Blake Tower in season two of the Netflix series. Who? Well, Deadline describes him as a "District Attorney for New York City who helps Charlie Cox’s Daredevil — a lawyer in his civilian identity as Matt Murdock — with information to help track down and capture criminals." In the comics, he's been involved with stories involving Captain America, Daredevil, Misty Knight, and She-Hulk, but nothing major. That will obviously give the showrunners a lot of creative freedom with what they do with his character. This casting also seems to indicate that season two of Daredevil will focus more on Matt's legal career, something which was largely missing from the first batch of episodes. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on this casting in the usual place.

@Nomis DeKnight said he didn't want Urich dead but the head of the TV diviion, we now know to be Perlmutter, said someone needed to die and it had to be Urich

@ComicsBornandBred,

The head of Marvel's TV division is Jeph Loeb.
And yes, he always makes stupid decision, i.e. Heroes, Sam Alexander Nova, Red Hulk, killing Urich.

Maybe it's Ben Urich's brother, cousin, or even son.

Can't wait for this

@Nomis

Totally agree man, I really thought we had a chance of seeing Urich at the daily bugle eventually. His arc in season 1 fit the story really well though

Damn, that was related to Permutter too? That's bullshit

@Nomis Urich's death scene was a muddled mess of tension which I don't feel progressed anything. Dumb decision.

@Omarvls,

Loeb is also the guy that watered down the excellent Avengers:EMH with bullshit one and done episodes he'd later replicate at Disney XD with shitty shows like Ultimate Spider-man and Avengers Assemble.

Still pissed Ben Urich died. Like...really upset about that. So unnecessary. Kingpin was already developed enough. It felt like someone up top was like hey there should be a death here. Urich could have been such a key part of this universe.

@ComicsBornAndBred LOL just read your comment about this

and @Nomis I totally agree with about Karen shooting Wesley. It shouldn't have happened either.

@Battabing I know Loeb is the head but recent reports have said Perlmutter looks over everything TV and animation. It's said his reach wash never ending and I feel like he would do some dum shit like ask for Urich's death
GhostDog
GhostDog - 9/3/2015, 6:52 PM
@Battabing Loeb has made some dum decisions with marvel animation but I feel like he couldn't be dum enough to ask for Urich's death right???? He's one of the reasons Marvel Netflix is flourishing. Maybe I'm wrong

@DrKinsolving recent reports of marvel's squabble with him have said he's to blame for the problems between marvel tv and the mcu, the rumors that they can't coexist, the problems with mcu's budgets and the the dilemmas with certain decisions made on TV shows. He was an overreaching blowhard

@Nomis Yeah, totally. Even I didn't really like Kingpin that much, I really liked Kingpin's and Wesley's relationship...it was such a sick and twisted take on the Mentor/mentee relationship.

Exactly man, those types of scenes would have been amazing. Really excited to see the Daily Bugle on screen again though, I actually think Christine Everhart might switch to the Bugle

@ComicsBornAndBred

Totally, I've been hearing all kinds of crazy, unbelievable stories about him for awhile. Really interested to see how this might affect things moving forward

Jeeps Loeb may be head of Marvel Television, but he didn't write Marvel's Daredevil. Not. One. Episode. Now, more than likely he allowed it to happen (in his capacity as Executive Producer) but to accuse him of something he had relatively little to do with?

Not cool.
Kozmik
Kozmik - 9/3/2015, 7:06 PM
Damn auto correct! I meant "Jeph," not "Jeeps."

Jesus (that I meant).

GhostDog - 9/3/2015, 7:08 PM
@Kozmik I didn't accuse him. I don't blame him really. I know he didnt write anything but as executive producer he's an integral part to everything bts. I give him someeeee considerable credit..
