According to a number of new reports, Mark Hamill avoided a very nasty accident on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens not too long ago. Now, as Star Wars Episode VIII heads back to Skellig Michael Island in Ireland, it's been revealed that the actor slipped and fell on the treacherous climb up the island's many peaks, and had a guide from the Irish Office of Public Works not caught him in time, Hamill could have fallen to his death!
Skellig Michael is 180 meters high and there around 600 steps leading up to the sixth century monastery where shooting was supposed to be taking place. The production even points out on call sheets that, "Our lead actor is in his 60s and less agile than most," a sad reminder that the cast of Star Wars aren't as young as they once were! Regardless, Hamill still looks great (look no further than The Flash for proof of that), and thank goodness this movie didn't end up being surrounded in tragedy, especially after Harrison Ford's plane crash too.
