TRANSFORMERS 5 And Animated CYBERTRON Spinoff Moving Forward At Paramount
You've by now no doubt heard about the writers room which was recently assembled by Paramount to create an entire slate of Transformers movies (names included Robert Kirkman, Steven DeKnight, Zak Penn, and more). So, what did they end up coming up with? Find out here...
Deadline reports that the Transformers writers room has now been disbanded, and the biggest thing to come out of that impressive group of talent - Christina Hodson (The Fugitive) and Lindsey Beer (Dig), Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man), Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man), Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk), Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), Steven DeKnight (Daredevil), and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Black Hawk Down) - is Transformers 5 from Akiva Goldsman. The blueprint for the movie has been created, and the plan is for Michael Bay to direct and Mark Wahlberg to return. Production will start next June.
Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari meanwhile are set to write an animated feature which will revolve around Cybertron. It's expected to be an origin story for both the Autobots and Decepticons. Shockingly, these are the only two movies to be set despite the huge number of writers who participated. However, it's thought that more could follow, because: "All of them hatched ideas together and collaborated to flesh out the universe of the Hasbro toy line to come up with possible spinoffs, sequels and prequels that they then peeled off and generated treatments...insiders say that when all the pitches and treatments were reviewed, that Spielberg felt there were potential movies in five of the nine." It sounds like the whole thing was a very collaborative process, and Transformers 5 will lay the groundwork for the spinoffs which were hatched up by the writers invovled. Are you guys excited to see what's in store for the franchise?
