"I wanted to create some new bad guys for this series—so let’s start by saying hello to the Neohedron! Half gorilla, half scorpion, half something else; a terrifying genetic abomination housing the 4-D mind of a man who cannot die!"

@dethpillow

Wouldn't he be a One Third Gorilla,One Third Scorpion,One Third something else.

Not if he's using half of the animal to create the new animal. :P

This roster is actually kind of cool, especially seeing the Young Avengers step up in the big leagues.

grif - I'm pretty sure that's Hulkling, and he's been like that for the past 9-10 years. Nothing new here.

I really like this roster! Might be picking this book up.

Nothing against the series, but I wish they'd stop throwing the New Avengers name onto random, unconnected series. The original run of New Avengers was one thing, then there was the one that was basically the Illuminati, now there's this one. They're not continuing the same story, they're not spiritual successors, so just come up with another adjective to give these series their own identities.

Hard to tell the vibe but the art could be a lot better.

I'm too grumpy and old to read new comics. Maybe I can enjoy some limited series that are mostly self-contained, but pretty much anything after 2006 is like its written in another language...

On the plus side, I'm really enjoying going back to read the early stuff from the characters I missed out on growing up. I've been reading the first run of Moon Knight and the 80's Question series. Fun stuff.

Don't ever get old, kids.

@BIGBMH

How are they not "continuing the same story" when Sunspot acquired A.I.M. in the main Avengers title in Hickman's run. This is just a continuation of that with some new members added in.

@grif who clearly doesn't read avengers comics or else he would know hulkling isn't even a hulk just a skrull that likes the hulks form

Same. This is getting confusing. We have All New All Different Avengers, New Avengers.

@DellRusk, Obviously there's continuity. But if this is spinning off of events from Hickman's main Avengers series, it's not really following a through-line of "New Avengers." Volumes 1 and 2 made sense as different eras of the same series while volumes 3 and 4 are basically Illuminati Volume 1 and AIM Volume 1.

As dethpillow expressed, I feel that a title should be representative of the kind of book you're getting. That doesn't mean creators are boxed in and can't bring the flavor or tone to it that they want to when they come on, but there should be enough of a commonality to feel like the same series. For 7 years, the title New Avengers carried a certain connotation. Now with three radically different series having had that title, the New Avengers brand doesn't mean anything. It's just a name slapped onto whatever Marvel wants it to be on. The next one could basically be a Secret Avengers type series or an Initiative type series for all we know.

Ramos did the wolverine art. Same style tho. Not a fan of it. And wolverine CW was a good book. He is the real hero of CW, lol. While everyone fighting each other, he tracks down nitro, gives him to namor, tracks down damage controls money, n kills him.

Where are other comic that was as good as this one ?
The series was so good it made me love HawkEye

@CimJerrey,

I also thoroughly enjoyed Hawkeye. I read the first volume of the recent Black Widow series, and it was quite good too. It's not the same style as Hawkeye, but there's a good article on how Edmondson sort of does for Natasha what Fraction did for Clint.

I believe it recently concluded with issue 20, so like Hawkeye, it's a pretty contained story. Haven't read further yet to put my stamp of approval on the whole series (waiting for a comixology discount on the later volumes like I got on the first one) but it's worth checking out.

Ok...so there is one real Avenger and the rest of a hot mess mixed with eh...art. As a life long Marvel fan...DC is looking more sensible these days. And they have characters like "Clock King" and "Dr. Spectro." So Marvel see their silliness and raises them Squirrel Girl and Wiccan. The only redeemable character other than Hawk would be Sun Spot. They are just mastering mediocre at the Mobile Home of Ideas.

The Hulk like guy is Hulkling. He has Hulk level strength and minor shape shifting abilities.
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 9/20/2015, 9:41 PM
@grif You are aware, of course, that Hulkling is actually the only legitimate and natural-born son of Captain Mar-Vell right? Mar-Vell once had a romance with a Skrull Princess long before Genis-Vell was ever created. So he is the Half-Kree, Half-Skrull Prince and and only true son of the legendary Captain Marvel.
