RUMOR: These Are The Three Time Periods WONDER WOMAN Will Take Place In

Remember those reports that the Wonder Woman trilogy will see each movie take place in a different period of time? Well, it seems the plan has drastically changed, and you can find all the details about what to expect from the Patty Jenkins helmed movie after the jump...

While we'll meet Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman for the first time in next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, very little is known about what we should expect from her 2017 solo outing. Well, Den of Geek claims to have the scoop on the time periods that her movie will take place in, and it appears as if Warner Bros. are now planning on exploring Diana Prince's adventures through time in just the one release instead of three. Apparently, it's likely that each act of the movie will take place in a different time period (which could be a mess if not handled well), and those are as follows:

The first setting will be Themyscira, the idyllic island Wonder Woman has called home since her adventures began in the 1940s. The second period is World War I - the specific year we've been given is 1916, which places it right in the middle of that conflict. The movie will then move to the modern day, where it will tie into the events of Justice League Part One, out at the end of 2017 and also set to star Gadot's Wonder Woman.

This is an interesting decision, but one which makes more sense than having two movies stuck in the past and not moving into the iconic hero's present day adventures until the early 2020s! With Wonder Woman set to be released before the first Justice League, using this one to help set up the events of that in some way should work pretty well, but we're going to have to wait and see.

Wonder Woman has 3 periods. That explains why she's always fighting.

Seriously, if they go through with this, then WB is gonna be juggling chainsaws with this movie.

Den of Geek is far from a site with a hot-streak in terms of exclusives lately, but we already heard a rough timeline that matches up with this from Birth.Movies.Death. earlier in the summer when MacLaren parted ways on the project.

Nice. I was hoping the whole first movie would be set in Themyscira and pass through time until she leaves to travel to America.

But this could be fun.
Age of Adaline was a film that blended a timeless woman travelling through multiple time periods perfectly, it was a touching story so I hope they tackle the film in that similar sense.

I like this idea, but I think it would only work jumping back and forth out of order (ala MoS) but you can't do all DC origin stories like that....

This ensures that it will fail. Nobody cares about a fictionalized Nazi Germany and the jumping to different time periods did not work for that movies Cloud Atlas. It made things confusing.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the WW1 part of the movie. Very rarely do you see films taking place in that part of history and more in the Second World War. I hope they have zeppelins in the movie and then you see why they still exist in Gotham. I also am looking forward to see how beautiful they make Themyscira, in the comics it's a really beautiful place and I hope it will be in film too.

It's time to dust off those 7th grade history books of yours.

@Forthas That same thought process could apply to THE FIRST AVENGER not working due to the inclusion of Hydra in WW2, but we all know that was highly successful.

I think this could be really very cool. WB needs to handle this well though. The Wonder Woman franchise could really be a winner for the studio if done properly. I am excited. I hope this is somewhat true though, the time periods.

Ares is most likely gonna be the villian, which kinda pisses me off because I would love to see marvels Olympians on screen. At least Hercules anyway.

It could be an interesting take if they do a different time period per act type of thing.

Personally, I say the best war in general was when we beat the Soviets during the Gulf War. [frick]ing Kim Il-sung, using Vietnam to start a nuclear missile crisis, man had to be stopped!

Yeah man those pesky nazi's from world war 1 they made the dinosaurs extinct and put jesus on the cross.
100% fail if they use this time period of ww1.
so obvious they will do ww2 for a sequel, i mean can't they be original like Marvel??

Trollololol.
ww1 had nothing to do with the nazi's. they didn't exist then. ;)

So, it'd be along the lines of "Origins: Wolverine" and "Captain America: The First Avenger"?

Let's hope they took notes on what worked and didn't work in those movies, and made this one better.

This movie is gonna be a blend. Doesnt need to have three time periods at all.
Think of it this way.

Themyscira = Asgard (theres no need to mention what period it is, could be same time as WW1)

Word War 1 = First Avenger (im assuming after meeting Steve Trevor that Diana vows to help in the war)

Present period? = again First Avenger (did she go back to Themyscira? She obviously doesnt age but what about Steve Trevor he should be either a grandpa or dead in 2017 unless they change his age. Here she realises that all the wars have been orchestrated by Ares) my opinion theres no need for the amazons to partake in the affairs of men but when they realise that Ares is behind all of it then they decide to send a champion.
