RUMOR: Lucasfilm May Be Considering Michael B. Jordan For The New BOBA FETT

Some Marvel fans were seething when Michael B. Jordan was cast as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four, but how will Star Wars fans react to the prospect of him suiting up as the new Boba Fett? Well, Disney has some potentially very controversial plans for the Bounty Hunter...

After his alleged behaviour on the set of Fantastic Four, Josh Trank was fired by Lucasfilm and the Star Wars Anthology movie he was set to direct was pushed back to an unknown date (Phil Lord and Chris Miller's solo outing for Han Solo will now open in 2018 instead). It's been widely reported that the spinoff was set to focus on Boba Fett, and The Wrap's Jeff Sneider confirmed that in the latest episode of the Meet the Movie Press Podcast (via Latino-Review). However, he had another very interesting titbit to add. Apparently, before choosing Furious 8, Straight Outta Compton helmer F. Gary Gray was under consideration for that movie focusing on the iconic Bounty Hunter, and Boba may have been black, with Lucasfilm at one point considering Fantastic Four and Creed star Michael B. Jordan for the role (which may explain why Trank was under consideration).

But wait, the Boba we met in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones wasn't black! Well, think back to that rumour from around a year ago that someone else will be wearing the armour, and this makes a lot more sense. It also confirms that this spinoff will take place after the events of Return of the Jedi, and this would be a very interesting direction to take the character in. As beloved as Boba Fett was, he never had much of a personality, so Lucasfilm do indeed have a ton of freedom to what they want with him. Still, all of this should be taken strictly as a rumour for the time being, so don't go lighting your torches and rooting around for your pitchforks just yet! What do you guys think?

No matter who plays him it wouldn't be Boba Fett if its just the armor.

I don't like it. Boba doesn't need to have a huge ego.

Got a feeling he would be Lando Calrissian's grandson that went down a different path.

Yeah Boba Fett is an over-rated character. His journey from being a vengeful kid into the respected bounty hunter would be more interesting, especially if it continues from the Clone Wars.

Damn, that means they probably won't be using his helmet.

Jordan is a good actor, playing in a bad film didn't make him a bad one over night. He'll be fine as long as he has a good team leading him.

Most people prefer the idea of NOT KNOWING HIS IDENTITY.....I like Jordan but this isgonna be a film of Fett with his helmet off 24/7

Take away the mystique somewhat

What? MBJ is totally a young Lando, with Anthony Ingruber as young Han. Disney: make it happen, now.

So he wouldn't actually be Boba Fett? So why would it be called a Boba Fett spin-off? The armor doth not the man make, and all that.

How about just not doing a Boba Fett movie? It's just as bad as doing a Han Solo prequel.

Not who would come to mind, but I guess he would be fine. Don't really need him though, Boba Fett could easily stay in his helmet the whole movie, so just hire anybody who stands and moves threateningly, and hire someone else to do the voice if need be.

Go for it! It's not like Boba Fett, is overly defined. I'm all for it. Define a character we know nothing about!
