Jesse Eisenberg Teases "Antagonistic" Relationship With 'Bruce Wayne' In BATMAN v SUPERMAN

We still don't know an awful lot about what to expect from Jesse Eisenberg's take on Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman, but the actor talks here about how the villain deals with the Caped Crusader when they interact and this fresh take on the Man of Steel's well known foe...

Talking to Total Film Magazine recently, Jesse Eisenberg spilled the beans on what exactly he's bringing to the role of Lex Luthor that we haven't seen before. First though, Zack Snyder mentioned that they considered all "the usual suspects that you’d imagine for Lex" (Bryan Cranston) before choosing The Social Network star and having Chris Terrio tweak the screenplay to better suit a younger version of the iconic villain. Of course, many fans believe that means we're basically going to end up with Lex Zuckerberg, but regardless of whether or not that's the case, the magazine at least confirms Luthor will indeed be going bald at some point in the movie.

Going back to Eisenberg though, and he had this to say about what he's bringing to the table as Batman v Superman's apparent big bad. "He is a lot of the things we know about the character. It's a very modern take on his otherwise historic and iconic character. He has a, I would say, recognisably modern psychology, whether it's being used to charm or destroy." He then went on to talk specifically about working with Ben Affleck, confirming that they share screentime in the movie (rumours have pointed to Bruce Wayne and Lex meeting at a party). However, he doesn't specificy whether these were between Lex and Bruce or Lex and Batman! "It's strange acting with people like Ben Affleck, having to condescend to someone like him. Off set, you're thinking of this person is reverential terms, and then on set I condescending him, really quite nasty..."

The more I hear people talk about the character.. the more I like.

They are approaching it very intelligently from what I've read...

Still.. That hair/wig tho... Eeek

Who the hell can Jesse Eisenberg charm haha. I'm sorry but the PLAYBOY ASPECT OF LUTHOR, Eisenberg will not be showcasing. Only casting I don't like with the film.

Would've loved Jude Law as Lex

His performacne in a Road to Perdition is chilling. He's a cold assassin who's scarier because of his psychology and presence than his killing skill

Not that I'm against it, but I'll always wonder WHY they went with a "younger" version.

You don't know much about women if you think looks matter when you are worth a billionaire dollars. I mean look at that Prince William guy (he's the married one right?). Dude's got a hairline problem worse than Kevin Feige & Stephen A Smith.

I've always loved the ALL STAR SUPERMAN Lex Luthor. Jude Law as that iteration would've been dope

I just really want an All Star Superman type film haha I'd love a superman like the one in that story. Such a great comic. Sueprman as this omnipotent timeless beung who's easy going and carefree. All that power, he takes it in stride

I'm not totally on board with his casting still, but his Back and forth with Ben as Bruce and Lex should be VERY entertaining.

A Lex Luthor who doesn't look like he could be elected President of the USA is simply not a Lex Luthor.

Hopefully Lex Zuckerberg does well, though.

Does anyone else remember that animated Batman/Superman movie that came out years ago? You the direct to video (at least I thought it was) movie where the two animated show did a crossover with each other? I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say that, that movie will probably a better crossover of the two superheroes than Zack Snyder's Batman, guest starring some guy in a red cape who's name and legacy you can't remember and doesn't matter.

This is Lex

I don't care what anyone says, because it is, I can see it, look at his eyes, and just the overall look in general. I can't wait to see him evolve on screen and in the DCEU

@LEVITIKUZ maybe I don't. But, you'd have to ask my girl that question lol. I never mentioned looks, I SAID CHARM. Charm is more than looks. It's personality, candor, behavior etc. Money is a factor, but Luthor has been charming in some iterations without impressing people with money. Just like Bruce wayne. His money doesn't always get him women, his charm often does

I'm dying to see this seen and Ralli's diner has already been teased in set photos

Jesse is gonna kill it, I don't need a super suave Lex, imo, I really like this direction, Jesse would pull of that classic Ralli diner scene perfectly

Looks like Lex is gonna have some control over Superman or he's just using Kryptonite to make him bow...

Oh yeh, suck it Eisenberg!

Lex is like Doctor Doom. He's an compelling 3 dimensional character in the comics, but is always butchered in the movies. I want this version to work, but I gonna have low expectations.

@DrKinsolving ive always liked the lex who's incredibly genuis, physically fit and really confident....his whole thing is that he can strive to be the perfect human being but never touch superman and that angers him.

Like he says in this all star superman panel above, his success is a product of old fashioned hard work while sueprman's is biology. It pisses him off that superman's feats diminishes humanity's.
