The Hollywood Reporter reveals that David Leslie Johnson (Red Riding Hood) is set to write Aquaman for Warner Bros. and director James Wan. He started off his career as Frank Darabont's assistant before writing Wrath of the Titans for the studio, and he's no stranger to working with Wan after penning the screenplay for The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist. It was originally reported that Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad were writing dueling scripts for the King of Atlantis' first movie which will see Jason Momoa take on the leading role. The trade adds that, "One source said that Johnson would be a third rail on the development track however several sources said Johnson is working with Wan to streamline the project." What do you guys think about this latest Aquaman development? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

Good director, but awful writer.

bahahaha xD

Though seriously, why this guy? Sure its going to probably be a special effects extravaganza, but he's really not suited for actual character development that Aquaman would need.

Its directed by a Horror movie director and written by someone whose writing credits are always on movies that recieve widespread negative criticism... :L

I suppose he could be amazing, but to me he isnt the sort of writer i'd get for Aquaman. He's more the 'spectacle' than 'character' type of person moving from one action scene to the next... maybe thats what Aquaman needs, but that would be trying too hard

See this is what credibility looks like. MULTIPLE sources, and they say slightly different but not contradictory things. But I thought they went with the Johnstad script? So is Johnson doing rewrites, or just polishing?

@OmegaDaGr0dd- Oh people claim to "Care" alright. Especially when it comes to MCU's upcoming Spiderman so it should be no different for Aquaman ;)

@XelCorp

Are you saying that people care about Spider-Man more than Aquaman? No way, haha

Wan is still working on the writing, so I wouldn't worry that much.

GODDAMNIT!!!!

I was looking in the article for his name and saw Frank Darabont's name and thought he was the writer.

I was like "why would any be worried and why would anyone put Wrath of the Titans writer" especially when he did Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile, and The Mist.

I feel so [frick]ing cheated.

If James Gunn, a guy with two Razzie award could make a movie like GOTG!! There is plenty of faith for David Leslie Johnson to deliver a good script!

Heres hoping its good, the general audiences don't need more reasons to mock Aquaman.

So the script won't be the strong point of the movie.

So I looked up that Red Riding Hood he wrote.

I don't know what's worse the fact he wrote it or the fact Leonardo DiCaprio produced it.
