X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Sequel May Shoot In 2017; Will Bryan Singer Return?

With Bryan Singer taking aim at 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea once he's finished working on X-Men: Apocalypse, the future of the X-Men franchise is unclear right now. However, if a new report is to be believed, we'll get another instalment in 2018...

There's still six months or so to go until the release of X-Men: Apocalypse, but Journal De Montreal - the site that broke the news that next year's instalment is heading back to Montreal for reshoots - claims to have some details on the future of the franchise. They state that the X-Men will be back in the city in early 2017 with Bryan Singer at the helm. If that's true, the filmmaker will need to get 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea wrapped pretty sharpish, but it makes sense that Fox are going to want another instalment of this franchise in cinemas by 2018. If this report is accurate, it's easier to imagine Singer taking on the role of a producer as the franchise shifts focus to the younger characters with a new filmmaker at the helm, but that's pure speculation at this point, and we'll have to wait and see. What do you hope is to come for the X-Men? Share your thoughts below.

"...with Bryan Singer once again at the helm"

Singer is a great director, but I wish he start do something more than just directing X-Men movies. The Usual Suspects is still his best movie.

Considering Singer sort of badmouths comics to start, wouldn't you think he would be sick of this stuff by now, I mean it will be his SIXTH superhero film and he clearly doesn't have that much respect for the characters as evidenced by the fact that 90% of the cast of every X-Men film is a glorified cameo, and even the characters who get a great deal of screentime are paper thin characters(ex: jean, storm, cyclops).

Now I'm not trying to badmouth him, I agree with desrow, he is a good director but enough is enough, he really hasn't added anything "new" to the franchise, they should be more ballsy like they were with Vaughn, I know some people didn't like first class(I thought it was slightly overrated and a bit of a missed opportunity) but at least he breathed new life into the franchise and it was a different approach.

Deadpool looks amazing, but they also entrusted it with unknowns because Deadpool isn't super marketable, they need to realize that staying in their safe bubble with keeping the same people is going to become incredibly dull eventually. I would like to see Tim Miller try his hand at the core X-Men characters for example, Colossus already has me excited in Deadpool, maybe he can do the same for people like Rogue and stuff.

I am fine with Singer in general, where he fails is the costume department and the freakin time line!!!!!!!

Hopefully he looks long and hard at Deadpool and see what they have accomplished in staying faithful to the comics!

Eh?...Im pretty done with Singer. He gave us some good X-men movies but his disrespect towards Cyclops is unforgivable...

@JoeMomma29

Singer also ruins the characterization and the overall feel of the X-Men a lot of the time. He can make a great movie, just not a great CBM, imo, and the X-Men deserve a great CBM

Dammit. Haha, I want to enjoy Apocalypse but it would have been so much easier knowing that this was Singer's last ride

Sometimes adapting costumes straight from the comics isn't a good thing.

I wanna see Singer do a crime drama. Usual Suspects was the shit

All he does is Xmen films. Which is fine, but I wanna see him take on some new shit. Let this franchise get some new blood directing wise.

Not everyone who dislikes the X-MEN films are like this (everyone has their own opinion), but there is a large amount of people on the internet will hate on anything Marvel-related that isn't from Marvel Studios.

You make some valid points there......personally at this point I do not care! The only X Men movies that stand out for me are First Class, Days of Future Past, and Deadpool!

Beyond that they are all pretty much garbage.......well X Men 2 was okay!
