Alona Tal And Abbey Lee Eyed For 'Black Canary' Role In JUSTICE LEAGUE And Beyond

It sounds like another DC TV character is going to be getting the big screen treatment in the near future, with two actresses eyed to potentially take on the role of Black Canary in Justice League and then something that sounds an awful lot like Birds of Prey. Read on for details...

According to Latino-Review, Warner Bros. are planning on bringing Black Canary to the big screen in one or both of the upcoming Justice League movies. While it's still early days, Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Alona Tal (Supernatural) are those currently being eyed for the role of the hero who has been played by Caity Lotz and Katie Cassidy in Arrow. The exciting thing here though is that the studio has big plans for the character following Justice League, with the plan apparently to include her in a Birds of Prey movie. If that incorporates characters like Harley Quinn and Batgirl, then it should be amazing, while it's hard not to wonder if this news means we're going to be getting a big screen Green Arrow in the near future too (sorry, Stephen Amell!). What do you guys think?

As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on this latest DC rumour in the usual place.

I'm also not surprised Meryl Streep and Cloris Leachman weren't mentioned as being in consideration.

Justice League Part One

"The world's greatest heroes are assembled to form the Justice League, to combat a threat beyond each individual's capabilities. The story involves Darkseid planning the destruction of Earth by blasting it with a ray that’ll move Apokolips into the Earth’s place."

Yeah no, I don't buy it.

But if it happened, it'd mean Arrow would finally kill off Laurel, which I could get behind.

Hopefully if this rumor is true, this means a Green Arrow as well soon down the line. Although if so then most likely a younger Arrow which i think is a stupid move for the movies :/

If there's any truth in this I wonder it its Laurel that's in the grave on Arrow, based on what they've done with characters from the Suicide Squad

Well if true that means Green Arrow better be happening too.
Considering that we are getting an older batman, I was really hoping that we would get an older Green Arrow as well - and I think Matthew Mcconaughey would be a pretty awesome Oliver Queen. So for Black Canary I would go with someone like Chloe Sevigny - thats just off the top of my head though.

@Thebest201

Just like how Chadwick Boseman never was in line for Black Pantern, Brandon Rout never played Superman in Superman Returns, Heath Ledger never was the Joker, and of course Viola Davis was never on board as Amanda Waller... And Bradley Cooper is not the voice of Rocket Raccoon.. Silly me.

Hmm. Let's see:

1) No Batman or MOS 2 film slotted,

2) No JLD release date,

3) But a Birds of Prey film is already in development, and

4) Source is Latino-Review.

Yeah, NOPE.

Im digging that WB is brining more female characters into the fold (if this proves true that is). Mera deserves to be on the big screen and Black Canary (while portrayed well by Lotz) needs to be done true justice. Hopefully this means the inclusion of Green Arrow as well.

A Rumour about a DC Heroine possible cinematic debut, a couple of days after the release of female Marvel show?
Am i the only one to start noticing a News/Rumours Pattern? Like EVERYTIME.
Really?

@UltimaRex I'm quite sure Justice League starts shooting in the Spring. And that synopsis looks cheap and fake.

"1) No Batman or MOS 2 film slotted,"

Ben has a busy schedule, so they probably announce it when he managed to get some time for it. MoS 2... Well Superman is after all a bit like Marvels Hulk at the moviedepartment

"2) No JLD release date,"

Which has to do with this how?

"3) But a Birds of Prey film is already in development,"

Wasn't that just El Mayimbe breaking the scoop during be apart of Colider Movietalk

"4) Source is Latino-Review."

Which is far more credible then the internet seem to get, even if they are no Variety or THR
