Even if you're not familiar with the name, you'll know James Arnold Taylor's voice from his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Clone Wars animated series. He and a number of other voice actors familiar with the Star Wars Universe (including Sam Witwer and Catherine Taber) provided vocals for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it turns out that Taylor's line as Obi-Wan was replaced when J.J. Abrams brought in the real deal; Ewan McGregor! That's right, the actor from the Star Wars prequels was the one who says "Rey" during the vision she has after touching Luke's lightsaber:



So, does this confirm that Rey is the grandaughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi? Not necessarily:

If Rey is the granddaughter of Obi-wan then Satine Kryzee is her grandmother. Satine and Obi must have hooked up when he was protecting her when they were in hiding for over a year prior to the clones wars. He was protecting her and they did fall in love with each other, that is acknowledged in the clones wars TV show. Which is cannon, Satine would have hid the pregnancy and they're child from him, so he wouldn't leave the Jedi order for her. When Luke tries to rebuild the Jedi order before Kylo goes dark he probably was lead to Rey as an infant by force ghost Obi and asked to protect her.

There's a fan theory that Luke hooked up with Obi Wan's secret daughter after ROTJ ended.
Could be a descendant of both.

@TheBeard - can't be. There has been 30 years since Jedi. Rey is like 26 in this movie. so whoever she is, she was born after the events of Jedi.

i would prefer is Rey was no one's relative. I like better the idea of a literal no one becoming huge than a "chosen one/predestined" again.

Maybe because Alec Guinness dont like his Obi-Wan Kenobi role. He at least has say a lot of times he is tired of only being popular and know foe his role in Star Wars and not his other roles... Maybe he doesnt wanted to be in the movie.

And Edward McGregor is the best (and only) good part of the prequels, he was a young Obi Wan, he wasnt perfect and i hate his relationship with everything, but that isnt fault of Mcgregor that is the stupid George Lucas Script...

So i dont have a problem, because i dont pay too much atention, i was way too center in the nice reveals and even best in Rey...

The way the alien midget lady was talking, it made it sound as if Rey is Lukes daughter, talking about how the lightsaber was Anakins, then Lukes, now it calls out to her... However, that would leave them having to explain why she's never heard of Luke Skywalker...

I think maz kanata said the force called out to her doesn't mean she has to be related to obi wan or luke or any other jedi.i really enjoyed this movie but over scrutinising it rehashing the plot points over and over again is making the flaws obvious with repetitive clichéd tropes of familiar relationships and top secret weapons and all what not.i just want this movie to remain as a fond and fun memory .smh

I love science fiction and love above everything stories involving non earth beings and settings, but the fact that retarded people have made this franchise so big, when a lot of the movies have been shit, is disgusting. Again, I am not attacking actual fans who have seen every movie and love the entire universe, but these people who have seen one movie and say "oh i love this franchise" are fucccking retarded.
