DEADPOOL: New Actor Cast As 'Colossus'; First Official Images And Character Details Released

Colossus isn't making his big screen debut in Deadpool, but it kind of feels that way. After all, the practically mute version we've seen up until this point has been underwhelming to say the least, and as the official images below prove, this new take on the X-Men character looks set to be the closest to the comics yet. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Serbian actor Stefan Kapicic - who has taken over the role from Andre Tricoteux - had this to say about his version of Colossus. "Tim Miller’s idea of Colossus was to be bigger and stronger than everyone else, so for the motion capture they needed an extremely tall man. I’m 6-foot-4, but he wanted Colossus to be over 7 feet, so they used a stunt double to recreate his height, and he did very good job there. Tim also wanted Colossus to sound as close as possible to the comic book character’s background, so he had me to come in, since my voice was what he envisioned for Colossus, who has an authentic Russian accent. My character’s voice gives him the past history as Piotr Rasputin once you hear him speak. This made him the most authentic to the original idea of the comic book character."

It sounds like it was always the plan to get a new voice actor in, and Miller clearly felt like Kapicic (who confirmed that he only finished working on the movie last week) was a better fit. Check out the new images below and be sure to let us know your thoughts on this news in the usual place.

Can Tim Miller take over for Bryan Singer and do all the X-Men movies please?

He actually looks like solid metal in this film. as opposed to his shiny liquid metal version in the previous X films. i never understood why it was so difficult to make him look the way he should. finally, they got it right.

I thought the "original" Colossus turned the role down because he was going to be completely mocap'd and he didn't like that.

Notice that Colossus has the Man of Steel diamond on his chest.
Because he is Marvels Man Of Steel.;)

Metal is probably one of the more difficult things to get right with CGI. In the older X-Men films it was fine because it was the early 2000's but it still looked like little effort went into it in DOFP. Even the Terminator films never got the look fully right for metal. Funny though that Deadpool, a film with a significantly smaller budget than most blockbusters, got the look so very right. It shines but it's mustered from dirt, it looks like it has weight to it.

Never thought I would write a paragraph about CGI metal in my entire life.

Cable should be in Deadpool 2 if it happens. Each film I think should emphasis a specific run of the character. The first will take heavy influence from the original Liefeld stuff. 2 can take notes from the Deadpool & Cable series and if there's a 3rd it can use works from Daniel Way or the more recent run by Posehn & Duggan.

@Jollem- LMAO Uh where Jollem? In one movie? (Apocalypse) What about the rest of the movies? Where was the color in X1-Days of Future Past? Singer sure as hell didn't have costume involvement in First Class. Not to mention the Four Horsemen get color in their suits while the [Fricking] X-men get shafted AGAIN When it really should have been the other way around (Color wise). Give the Horsemen the apocalyptic darker suits while the X-men have color. Shit seems backwards to me ;)

Miller's not just getting the costumes right, he's actually putting time into the characterization....

I'm looking forward to Apocalypse but I wish it was Singer's last X-Men film

I want to see an X-Men film that has nothing to do with the Singer/X-Men Universe
