BOX OFFICE: STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Has Now Passed $800 Million Worldwide

We'll have some updated box office numbers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens' domestic performance for you tomorrow, but going back to Christmas Eve, and an additional $20 million from overseas means that the movie has now officially passed $800 million worldwide. With its international cume at $422.4 million, the movie has made an incredible $813.5 million in the past week. Of course, with Christmas Eve and Christmas Day typically much slower for the box office outside of North America (UK cinemas don't open today for example), it's now up to the US to help get Star Wars: The Force Awakens to $1 billion, a feat it WILL acheive by Sunday. With China on the horizon, both end of 2015 and beginning of 2016 are going to be very interesting for this movie, especially as it starts to set its sights on Avatar's record. Have you seen The Force Awakens today?

I will not understand why people feel this is a remake of Episode 7 when Star Wars A New Hope is just a sci-fi remake of Hidden Fortress.

The Force Awakens wasn't a remake but it was a great film.

Kylo Ren said that he'll finish what he, Darth Vader, started, which involved the entire Death Star initiation; in this movie, it's the Starkiller. Ren's motivations were pretty clear.

I just watched TFA a second time and noticed how the scene where Kylo is about to kill Han Solo, Rey and Finn show up and watch from a distance, eerily similar to how Luke watched Vader kill Obi-Wan.

To be honest, episodes I, IV, and VII are all pretty similar, but are also extremely different in terms of storytelling, visuals, and overall quality.

Just saw this earlier today. Great movie with tones of nostalgia. So many questions and ideas yet so much time to wait.

The people dont understand that J. J. Abrams uses the same structure of "A New Hope" like a McGuffin to present the characters and to get to the climax between Kylo Ren and Rey, Finn and Han Solo.

Because the real plot of the Force Awakens isnt Finn, Rey and Han Solo along Chewbacca searching the way to destroy the "New Deathstar". The real plot of this movie is the search of Luke Skywalker and the personal search of Ray, Finn and Kylo Ren of who they want to be.

But J. J. Abrams was a pussy and dont had the balls to put or reveal enough to present this sequels, but he present something who doesnt make any [frick]ing sense to this sequels.

Because the Deathstar is shit, if the First Orde wanted to destroy the New Republic was better to present it in a new way...

I'm really kind of surprised by the criticisms of this movie. I really loved it and thought it was a masterpiece of a movie. Most of the criticisms I hear I think are untrue or just don't really matter. I'll admit the layout of the movie was episode 4 (the empire after a droid containing vital info seeks out help from a hero and instead gets caught up with a ragtag group of underdogs who rise to the occasion and take out a giant planet destroying war base.) but I really didn't care. That movie was Star Wars, in some ways done better than we've ever seen, and I loved every minute. I'm not saying people shouldn't have opinions but I do think some people are mistaking personal preferences and expectations with actual problems with the movie.

Because we needed to see how is the New Republic and how will be this new world. But is ok, because they alredy [frick] up! everything...

We will never get to see the New Republic because was destroy, we will never understand better the things because the past will need to be present by Flashbacks and because [frick]ing answers will be a rule from now on, but only if J. J. had center himself in do this movie good, stop doing so many stupid things like taking the alredy use structure of a movie to this new one and even worst using the same lines from Obi Wan and Yoda to put them in Maz Kanata voice...

Mother [frick]er, this movie is a 8/10... Is good but it had the same number or even worst more lost things that "Return of the Jedi"...

Awesome movie! The Disney execs are having one heck of a holiday; hope they are so happy they give their stock holders a nice big dividend to start the New Year.
