HE’S BACK… — When Cisco (Carlos Valdes) gets a vibe of Eobard Thawne (guest star Matthew Letscher), Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team don’t believe it. But, after an attack at Mercury Labs, Christina McGee (guest star Amanda Pays) confirms that the Reverse Flash is back. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) and Francine (guest star Vanessa A. Williams) share a nice moment that brings Iris closer to her brother, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale).   Michael Allowitz directed the episode written by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing.

Now a real twist will be if this is Eobard Thawne from Earth 2, and its actually a good guy in that reality.

If the "crisis" referred to in the newspaper, that eobard keeps checking in season 1, is some sort of merger of universes. Eobard is born after that, so he would be a conglomerate or offspring of conglomerates. so eddy killing himself would cause that version of eobard to disappear because he no longer has earth1 eddy thawne in his timeline or bloodline so to speak, it wouldn't erase him from existence. Which would also explain why earth 2 villains are trying to kill their earth1 counterparts. it also makes this exchange between eddy and eobard make more sense ( Eddie Thawne: Depressing to think all my descendants are as crazy as you.
Dr. Harrison Wells: Oh, no, no, no. The Thawne bloodline is chock-full of influential politicians, scientists, captains of industry. Failures such as yourself are just an exception. ). 130 years really isn't long enough t have multiple politicians, scientists and captains of industry in the bloodline unless there is a merger of universes
