Making Star Wars were great for Star Wars: The Force Awakens spoilers in the build up to the release of that movie, and they've now shared some details on Darth Vader's rumoured appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Apparently a "meticulously recreated" suit has been created for the spinoff which looks identical to the one worn by the iconic villain in A New Hope, but the most exciting thing is the fact that James Earl Jones is expected to return to once again provide Vader's voice. Let's be honest though, it wouldn't have been Vader without the legendary actor! Unfortuantely, they don't have any specifics on what the Sith Lord is going to be getting up to, but they do promise that he's expected to be "a prominent player in a few scenes and something to fear for the heroes" as well as "alive and kicking in the future of the Star Wars universe beyond just this film as well." Now that's definitely intriguing! Are you looking forward to more Vader?

Honestly I feel Vader shouldn't show up till the end of Rouge One.

Imagine Rouge One ending where it seems like our heroes will get away with the Death Star plans. They are in the hanger. All the sudden a member is force choked. We see Vader and his red lightsaber ignite. Rebels shoot him and he deflects their blasts. Vader without mercy kills the Rebel squad and you end the movie there. End it with everyone dies.

@LEVITIKUZ As badass as that sounds, that's a bit too close and personal for Vader. Maybe something like how A New Hope started: Stormtrooper squad raids the Rebel base, small battle occurs, Empire is gaining the upper hand and smoke starts appearing and its dead silence for a good moment...cue Vader breathing where he wipes out remaining Rebel forces and interrogates them for the Death Star plans (hopefully James Earl Jones comes back, Matt Sloan is just as good though), only to find out its left the base (maybe a Princess Leia body double filmed from the back as she boards a ship)

They have a chance to really display Vader's immense power on a grand scale. A lot like how Star Wars Rebels has. The OT couldn't really show Vader really [frick]ing shit up with the force.

But maybe he won't display his powers. Gareth Edwards has said there are no force sensitive characters in the film....maybe he's creating misdirection idk.

I really enjoyed how he was portrayed in Force Unleashed. I think his possible inclusion in the future of the SW Universe may be to really show how powerful he really was; as aformentioned, the OT couldn't do that; no decent CGI back then.

Well if everyone dies how do they get the plans to Princess Leia and the Rebellion. We know they get the plans because this movie leads directly to Ep. IV. If you want them all to die how about they go out Red Dead Redemption style. All the surviving members of the team hold off a large force of Empire forces while Leia and the Rebellions escape. They walk out of a hangar as the Rebellion escapes to the Empire forces where they draw their weapons going out in a blaze of glory that would be awesome.

Now onto the point at hand I don't believe we need Vader in this movie. I feel he doesn't really add anything other then just to have Vader. The Empire is a galaxy wide force there are thousands of other Imperial commanders you could have. Create a new and interesting villain to take on this group. Don't just throw Vader in their for nostalgia.

Ok how bout this.

Episode IV wasn't the first time Rebels tried stealing the Death Star plans.

Problem solved.

@Levitikuz

Then what's the point of the story if they don't steal the plans for the Death Star. Just to see a punch of guys fail to steal the plans for then some other group to succeed that we don't even see. That doesn't sound like a blockbuster movie that sounds more like a short story or fanfiction.

@LEVITIKUZ Well Vader did imply that they tried before, said that Leia's "diplomatic mission" excuse isn't flying that time around in ANW. And given how the Empire dominated in TESB, it's definetly possible that they've been crushing Rebels until they got lucky in ANH. Hell, just the fact they turned to Kenobi, a guy who disappeared from the galaxy, and should be a fairy tale to Leia regardless what Senator Organa told her (Kenobi and Organa never kept in touch after that) implies she was all out of options.

I actually DO hope Vader crushes them, these Anthology movies could have an amazing theme with the time setting ROTJ-ANH and how Vader is essentially a boogeyman

Me personally I feel we are just retreading old ground if you bring back Vader. He, as either Anakin or Vader, has been one of the main focuses of 6 Star Wars films. I would like to see something new in the Star Wars film more of the universe lets see a new villain not just use Vader over again but let him use flashy force powers.

@pesmerga44

I don't know. I just feel like given how this takes place between 3 & 4 with the Empire in total control, having a happy ending where the Rebels win seems well stupid. We've seen the Rebels win & know one day they will win. But in Rogue One, this movie & day isn't the movie and day the Rebels win. This film should show how dominate the Empire is and include Vader as a final and unbeatable boss fight for the film.

@LEVITIKUZ

We know the Rebellion gets the Death Star plans why in the hell would you make a full length blockbuster movie about a group that tries to steal the Death Star plans and fails. It feels like a waste of time and while it would be ballsy it would blow up in their faces. I believe fans would be pissed off in the end. I am fine with them all dying but again how about who ever is left at the end pulls off the heroic sacrifice to allow the Rebellion to escape.

@DarthoftheDead Sorry, I was agreeing with you, didn't mean to sound as if I was copying or stealing it.

Really hope they'll do an Obi-Wan Anthology film, how he struggles with his communications with Qui-Gon, to where it seems no one is there at all, the hopelessness as he senses beings throughout the Galaxy in terror from the Dark Side, his resentment at how he's last Jedi essentially and even he cannot go up against the juggernaut of the Empire, much less challenge Vader until ANH

I guess this means he's showing up in the Han Solo prequel as well?

And yes, an Obi-Wan story would be really, really awesome, especially if he's like half Ewan's Obi-Wan and half Alec's Obi-Wan. It'd be really cool to see him wrestle with his isolation, the uncertainty of Luke ever becoming a Jedi, and his own gradual aging.
