Paul Franklin has worked with director Christopher Nolan on all three Batman movies, and took to Twitter earlier today to address fan questions in regards to the highly anticipated release of the six minute The Dark Knight Rises prologue with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol next month. Confirming previous reports that it will only be available in 70MM IMAX theaters, he also revealed that the first full theatrical trailer will indeed be released this Christmas. Below are a selection of his Tweets, where Franklin also discusses the release of the full movie next July.

The Dark Knight Rises IMAX prologue will be released on Dec 21 with M:I4, but *only* in theatres with a proper film projector - no digital!

So make sure it's a proper 70mm projection otherwise you'll be disappointed!

However, the full movie will be shown in IMAX digital theatres, so it's not all just for the lucky few in London.

No - it'll be shown on the digital screens too in the summer, but if you can see it in 70mm it'll be worth the effort.

You'll be able to see it in digital IMAX when the movie gets released next year. Plus there's a regular trailer out at Xmas.

A full list of 70MM IMAX theaters in the US can be found HERE. Also confirmed above is the fact that the prologue will be released in the UK. There's currently no word on whether the prologue will be released officially online, but it seems increasingly unlikely. Stay tuned for more details and sound off with your thoughts below.

STARRING:

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine as Alfred
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
Tom Hardy as Bane
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

Going to see M:I-GP either way.

Too bad I'll be in Hawaii at the time, our only IMAX screen [or LIEMAX] is digital.

I can wait for a leak.

As for the theatrical release: [frick] MGM Resorts Inc. for closing our 70mm [real] IMAX screen at the Luxor!!!

I don't know about you guys but, here in Vegas, the Imax theaters don't show ANY previews...
that's why I don't go to Imax theraters to see a movie, if I'm late 2 minutes, I'd missed 2 minutes of actual film !

@Lert: First six minutes. Just like with TDK

@Lert

It's the first six, seven minutes of the actual film.

@PoPcornDude

I share your pain.
Palm's Brenden Theatres is where I plan to go next July to see TDKR.
I'm constantly underwhelmed by that place.

@N
Action scenes were filmed in 1.44:1
It will look amazing.
Everything else will be in letterbox 2.35:1
Dialogue on IMAX needs to be dubbed.
The camera is too loud.
TDK's interrogation is dialogue intensive.
Filming it on IMAX would be stupid.

@ teabag

cheers mate,i kept posting comments on superherostuff articles telling them about my birthday but nothing.

as for star wars on blu-ray lovely,clear & crisp its beautiful.

not really a fan of the prequels,but they do look nice on blu-ray & the movies do actually get better as they progress.

very rare a trilogy does that.
Gnyah123
Gnyah123 - 11/27/2011, 1:19 PM
so the prolog is the acutal 6 - 7 minutes of the movie?
it makes sense..there are 2 articles going around about it...1 is where the bat gets his back broken right after he escapes from the cops..picking up where TDK left off
and the other was just posted a few hours ago..sumthing to do with "mirrors" and all that...idk which 1 to believe
but i want the batman getting his back broken..it only makes more sense! ...back broken and left to suffer n be n pain and BANG! screen goes back...

@Gnyah123

The prologue is a plane hijacking and crash.
It was filmed earlier this year and the idea is mindblowing.
Might involve zero-gravity stunts.
