THOR Beats THE DARK KNIGHT RISES As The Most Talked About Movie On Twitter In 2011

Twitter has released their "Year In Review" of the most talked about topics and hashtags, and THOR has come out on top with The Dark Knight Rises and a couple of other comic book movies all making up the top five.

In their "Year In Review" covering the topics which were most talked about on Twitter during 2011, Marvel Studios and Kenneth Branagh's THOR has come out on top. Despite filming for The Avengers taking place throughout the summer and the release of a trailer and character banners, both that and the much hyped Amazing Spider-Man failed to make the cut. Shockingly, neither Captain America: The First Avenger or Green Lantern appear on the list.

1. Thor
2. The Dark Knight Rises
3. X-Men: First Class
4. Fast Five
5. Green Hornet

Of course, while THOR may have "beaten" The Dark Knight Rises, it's hard not to be impressed by a movie making it to the #2 spot when it's not set to hit the big screen for over SEVEN months. If you'd like to read the list in full, where topics such as television, music, actors, actresses (Anne "Catwoman" Hathaway came third in that list) and news are all covered, click HERE. How do you feel abut the list? Does it reflect how much you discussed these particular comic book movies, with the obvious exception of Fast Five? And what of those which are missing from the list? Sound off with your thoughts below.

Just looking at the list you can tell that it means nothing at all. Green Hornet in the same mention as the others is evidence of that. Dark "Talking about" can be anything at all, negative or positive. But the simple fact that a movie that is a year away from release made the list, now that's impressive

I talk about THOR more than TDKR too! Cause, you know, I've seen it. A lot.

That's pretty impressive for TDKR. Damn.

Urgh, I don't see any point in this needless marvel vs dc point scoring but the fact tdkr figures in this at all is incredible when its not released til next year. It's "ranked" that high on hype alone where as the others will include the "just been to see... Etc etc" tweets.

A war between "marvelites" and "nolanites" will now start on the next few comment pages of this article.

Anyway, I'm happy for Thor! IMO, best CBM of this year! And that's pretty impressive for TDKR when it's only had the teaser.

The Dark Knight Rises has different names in other countries in Brazil is called "Cavaleiro das Trevas Ressurge". Thor is the same name anywhere

THOR is the best MARVEL studios film to date. It deserves to be talked about more than a film that isn't even out yet.

THOR is the shit.

I AGREE. TWITTER IS ONE OF THE MOST USELESS SITES on the Planet. If you have a Twitter account youre a Loser, and if you created one to have followers you a freakin idiot. Lastly, the celebrities that are pushing for followers, and these publicity stunts that twitter is doing is LAME.

The majority of society full of sheep, wtf do they know about comics. STFU and GTFO!!! :)

Yeah, it won because nearly all the tweets about it would be 'Just been to see Thor' after it's release. TDKR isn't released until next year and it's #2. Technically that's better than Thor's accomplishment, unless the majority of the tweets about it came from before the movie's release.

Idk, but congrats to Thor!

@Azazal1 Well thats the cool thing about disagreeing; it displays our unique differences. THOR has a certain tone and emotional weight that puts it above other MARVEL films for me. Iron Man is in my top three though.

Interesting point. Thor has easily made its way to the top of my list, not as my favorite but it does stand strong at the top. My only complaint about IM is that the climax of the movie was (for me) was a little disappointing. Thor, on the other hand, (IMO) had a much better climax.

And for all you sickos out there who want to crack jokes about climaxing then have at it. lol

Uh, 2011 was the year in which Thor was released so of course it would be the most talked about. If you look up all the other movies there they are all 2011 releases as well, it's actually quite amazing that TDKR finished 2nd.
Bodwulf
Bodwulf - 12/6/2011, 10:04 AM
I think it is a win for Thor and for The Dark Knight. Thor is a new product getting more buzz than veteran titles. Bat's is getting 2nd most buzz and does not come out to till next year. I notice no other film from next year makes the list not even the Avengers.
Twitter complaints? Really? Wish there was a site for adult comic film fans.

Who gives a damn? What the hell is twitter? It doesn't mean squat, 'cuz Batsy is still the only comic book property to both defy the genre and break the billion dollar record.
