In a lengthy interview with Newsarama (which you can find by clicking HERE), writer James Robinson has revealed new details about "Earth 2" as well as a first look at the younger Jay Garrick, who some readers may remember as the elderly Golden Age Flash. During the course of their conversation, he revealed that the upcoming series is a complete reboot of the universe and issue #1 will open with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman facing off against a threat which sees the emergence of some "familiar faces" who "take the mantles of superheroes in the future." These include "everyman" Jay Garrick, Alan Scott, Al Pratt, Helena Wayne and Karen Starr (although the latter two will soon find themselves on the main DCU Earth as Huntress and Powergirl respectively).

For more details, don't forget to check out the interview with Robinson. Here is the cover for Earth 2 #2 which offers up a first look at Jay Garrick's all-new look.

Why did DC launch the new 52 if there aren't 52 and they keep going back to old characters?

it doesn't look as bad as I thought. Its the same costume style just with a more modern take of it

Wasn't the point of the 52 to reboot the ever confusing continuity so new, and old fans can immerse themselves in fresh stories?

This just seems to be a step backwards in what ever they have gained...

How is it a step backwards when they are starting from the beginning fixing the confusion. If you can't tell the difference between 1 & 2 you must be retarded.

Hank Pym is going to be pissed when he finds out that Jay Garrick stole one of his helmets. He looks like the "Fastest Ant-Man Alive"

Lord Loki has spoken

Why is he so young?? I now this is the New 52, but the whole point of Jay was that he was a mentor type guy.

Still not sure what think of this whole Earth-2 thing in the DCnU. I was hoping a fresh slate, with independent stories, oh well..

So they are doing their best to destroy the old characters. New costumes for the sake of new costumes.

I am glad I gave up reading DC last June. No plans to start again. Thanks to Flashpoint, I am done with DC.

Thats pretty good actually, if anyone knows anything about what Jay Garrick looks like they would be able to tell that thats true to the original but just updated.

And the "Ant man helmet" is because of Jay's original helmet, jeez people!!!! come on this is comic book basics!!
People could be so very sad.

That's...bad. Worst design out of the whole Earth 2 stuffs we've seen so far, IMO.

The helmet/visor combo look is definitely off. I like the rest of the costume though. Classic yet modern.

Why didn't they just, you know...have the Earth-2 characters part of the regular Universe from the get-go instead of introducing an alternate reality?

I mean, we got some Wildstorm guys in the regular DCU, so why not DC's Earth-2 guys? Why complicate your rebooted, less complicated continuity?

DC's just going right back down the same road, so what's the purpose of the reboot?

Side-note: I dig the new costume, doesn't have that 90's "X-TREME" feel that some of the other redesigns have had.

I'd like to offer a witty comment but I can't because this whole new 52 thing is still odd in my books. Sure there have been a few titles I'm following but I find more often then not I crack open my box of 1990's comics and read those instead.

Not bad, but reminds me of bulleteer helmet.

I'm generally pretty forgiving with redesigns, but this is terrible.

Again, the whole point of the reboot was not to get rid of the multiverse!, but to give the DC universe a fresh look. This includes the other Earths, Earth 2 and the Golden age heroes are an important part of comic book legacy, they were the first superheros and by rejuvenating them you can still have some great stories and crossovers with the main DC universe . The Flash design is not bad, but I don't care for the helmet. I wish they would have kept his original Mercury helmet. It looks like the Earth 2 heroes eill be you
Supershadowbat
Supershadowbat - 3/6/2012, 9:08 AM
Sorry for the cutoff mid sentence. What I was aaying at the end was, that the Earth2 heroes are being made younger, but still older than their Earth 1 counterparts. Look forward to seeing the JSA again.

@Fastestmanalive

Yeah. It's true to the original in that...well, the colors are right. That's about it. Jay's helmet was a WWI helmet...something that ACTUALLY EXISTS in the real world...this is just a pointless crap redesign for the hell of it. He's got goggles and antennae, there's nothing "true" to Flash about that. Hank Pym, however...

C'mon, this is Flash basics!

People can be so very sad...
