Josh Trank Reveals His Vision For A FANTASTIC FOUR Movie

In an interview conducted before he was linked to Venom, director Josh Trank shares his thoughts on what his vision would be for a reboot featuring Marvel's First Family, the Fantastic Four.

Talking to Empire Magazine, Josh Trank has once again expressed interest in helming the planned Fantastic Four reboot for 20th Century Fox, despite last month claiming that he hadn't even spoken to the studio about it. "I'm interested in character and interpersonal conflict," he revealed when asked about what his vision for a reboot featuring the team would include. "What's cool about Fantastic Four, which is an amazing property, is that these are people who started out as human beings, for the most part. Coming to terms with with humanity is the biggest challenge, not the villains they face."

It certainly sounds as if he has a good idea of what a Fantastic Four movie would need to include, but whether or not the rumors were false or he simply chose Venom in preference is unknown. He added, "The best opportunity in my life was to make Chronicle. The next biggest opportunity I can possibly see is to make a really great movie based on characters that I grew up obsessing over and falling in love with, but I can't say one way or another what will happen." Of course, the ideal solution for many would be that he helms them both, but as of right now, it would appear that we won't be seeing a Josh Trank helmed Fantastic Four.

There's already a Spider-man reboot. All they would do is piss people off more if another recent movie is rebooted again. Give us something new

@NoRegrets:

"FF has so much potential, and I'd rather see Fox make the film than Marvel."

IDIOT.

Did you not see the Avengers trailer? If anyone can handle team-ups and their own properties, its Marvel. FOX has yet to make a decent superhero movie even somewhat resemble what its based on.

And that includes X-Men: First Class.

Give the FF back to Marvel so we can have an ultimate galactus movie!

As long as we don't get a fart cloud as Galactus then its cool with me, that and a better Doctor Doom as Julian was shite choice for him imo.

I'd rather have him work for Marvel rather than Sony or Fox. Put him on Heroes for Hire or The Defenders.

I'm so sick of directors/writers/producers trying to sound overly deep...

"I'm interested in character and interpersonal conflict"
Coming to terms with with humanity is the biggest challenge, not the villains they face."

Statements like these let me know two things #1. This guy has no idea the basic meat of comicbookmovies which IS THE VILLAINS. Someone who was not a fan of comics will not give these characters the justice they need

#2. The focal point shouldn't be on there interpersonal conflict.... We get that in the first two bad movies... Continue with the story but give us a more serious, less cheesy, better looking movie..

Better yet, don't touch it... Give it back to Marvel so it can be done right

Cant they just stick all the characters in the same universe even if other characters dont show up. I mean even Cap doesnt need to show up in Iron Man 3 or Thor 2

I think they should should do a DOCTOR DOOM biopic first that leads into a new FANTASTIC FOUR franchise, that would be cool:)!!!! Then they would have all his back story taken care of.

monkeyballs3- Yeah, truth be told, they definitely aren't perfect. But oddly enough, Thor surpassed my expectations and became my favorite Marvel film, which means on my list, it toppled even Ironman 1. The Crow still reigns supreme over all their asses though. That's a given :P

They should cast Jessica Alba as the Invisible Woman. That would be interesting.

Nomis: I totally agree. The Lee/Kirby and Byrne runs feature some of the great stories in all of comics. Why not adapt a couple of THOSE classics for a movie? Start with a proper reboot that FOLLOWS the origin correctly. They can use Doom. It wouldn't take thirty seconds to do the basic story of Doom's origin and have anyone who doesn't know him up to speed on who he is and why he hates Reed so much.

Wouldn't mind a FF reboot.

The concept is sound.

The execution so far in live action, has been mediocre to poor.
