According to Best Movies Ever News, Christopher Nolan will be making his first appearance at the San Diego Comic Con later this year in order to promote his third and final Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. According to their "sources" at Warner Bros., the studio plan on capitalizing on the huge amount of anticipation surrounding the threequel with both a panel and screening of the film (similar perhaps to the premiere of Cowboys & Aliens last year).

In the words of their apparent source at the studio, "Warner Bros was hoping that Chris would take advantage of Comic Con 2012 since he’s never been so it looks like they’ll be a panel with Chris, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway. We’re not sure about Christian Bale, but since this is the final Batman movie for them, I can’t imagine him not attending...but you know how Christian can be." Another added, "Chris [Nolan] would love to keep it a surprise appearance, but in this day and age, it’s pretty impossible."

Of course, it's best to take anything like this with a pinch of salt for the time being, but perhaps most interesting is the fact that they also go on to claim that they have received the following reaction to the recent screening of The Dark Knight Rises for Warner Bros. execs. "Aside from the usual tweaks and such, the suits seem genuinely pleased and rather ecstatic with the rough cut. Everyone will probably still be wondering about the Bane voice issue, but that won’t be one." What do you guys make of all this? Sound off with your thoughts below.

STARRING:

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine as Alfred
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
Tom Hardy as Bane
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake
Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate
Josh Pence as Ra's Al Ghul

RELEASE DATE: July 20th, 2012

I thought their whole thing was to keep details a secret, especially the last scene of the film? This is bullshit. A film like this deserves a proper premiere. Nolan has said it a dozen times- he doesn't want the plot spoiled.

I mean, bullshit to the screening. Nolan doesn't really need to waste his time attending Comic Con to promote the film to fans, either. Execs might screen some footage but I don't see anymore than that. Anticipation is high enough.

Warner Bros. can eat shit. Execs can only ruin TDKR

hold up, does that mean they're going to change Bane's voice because of the rough cut screening?
I call lame.

Its actually pretty sad that this'll be the last one.
So far the first two have been nothing short of great, and I can't wait for the conclusion :D

That's pretty cool, although I do not go to Comic Con. Notice that no Marvelites have shown up yet, so maybe we can actually hold an intelligent thread for a while! :D

I think he SHOULD wait...but it is his movie. He should do what he wants, he hasn't made a mistake yet in my opinion (only thing I don't like from what I've seen is Selina's costume...I like Hathaway though)

Why do you guys want him to wait? I'm sure he knows what he's doing. And why is it bad to promote? He's too smart to give anything big away. I say go for it!
Knightrider

I think they will go, but a full on premier, I doubt, possible footage I can see being shown though. I doubt a premier will happen as this film is highly anticipated beyond just a comic book fan audience and the obvious one of people filming the movie and leaking it is probably easier at comic con. For those worried about Bane's voice, I for one didn't but understood, I think the execs being the ones who will lose money if it is still bad for those who think it is, will have said it needs changing if it does, so I believe it is fine.

I just want him to wait because the movie comes out a week after, and I don't Comic Con tweeters spoiling it for me.

Also at MoonKnight:

Why can't we have a different look at the Bane character? I personally think he looks really cool, but, hey, to each his own, I guess. I root for both Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises (Also Spiderman)

Was going to say doesn't it get released like nearly the same day? Or really close anyway. I don't think it's a bad idea, i'd limit the size of the crowd though, not that it will really make much difference to how much it will make though.

Comic Con has become such a bloated behemoth of the studios that the first thing I thought was, "Oh, I guess TDKR will be this summer's 'Cowboys & Aliens' - highly anticipated, rolled out to the fanboys, ultimately very disappointing." I'm not one of those who mindlessly chants "In Nolan We Trust" (I saw "Inception," after all), and I'm still not sold on this being as good as "The Dark Knight" turned out to be, despite its many faults.

Best Movie News Ever? Isn't that the same site that falsely promised a Spider-Man cameo in Avengers? Slow news day?

Anyways, I doubt that a cut will be ready 2 whole months before the movie is to be released. Nolan will probably be busy with editing/effects and probably music before. Post production stuff. Even if he does attend, do not expect a rough cut of this movie.

Supes17 - 3/18/2012, 8:23 PM
lol you are a new kid, I've never seen your ass on this site before.

I admit that I troll on TASM, but come on, it's an easy target.. I don't have to say much.
I don't get your accusation about me trolling the Avengers... I'm excited for that film as well.

And there is a difference between stating your opinion and trolling. Now, judging by your last post, you are Trolololing, my friend;)
Nothing personal, kid. I actually like u:P

Lilvic92 - 3/18/2012, 8:32 PM
@supes
I agree TASM is a really easy target

But then you have those awful movies that are just so bad it's pointless to even troll on them...(Ghost Rider SOV I'm looking right at you -_-)

The only reason I could think to bring Nolan and crew to Comic-Con would be to top line a DC Entertainment panel that also featured Man of Steel and announcements of
other DC films maybe including a revamped Green Lantern sequel,The Flash,Wonder Woman and a new team for Batman. That way WB/DC gets mega news coverage of a whole slate of films.
GingerBird
GingerBird - 3/18/2012, 9:29 PM
TDKR will NOT be screened at comic con. The film will be patiently held onto until the very last minute. Except for critics, no "public" will be able to spoil the ending until July 20, 12 am.

Lilvic92 - 3/18/2012, 9:32 PM
Ok this has been bothering me, is this guy^ really Chris?
I know it's a extremely dumb question but he's really dedicated in acting as Nolan..
AsianVersionOfET
AsianVersionOfET - 3/18/2012, 10:14 PM
Christopher Nolan doesn't do stuff like this. He never has. And I think I speak for everyone and their grandmother when I say TDKR doesn't need any more promoting to get people to see it. It's like saying, "hey there's oxygen floating around in the air, g'head, breathe it in!" Everyone already knows!
