THE DARK KNIGHT RISES To Feature Over An Hour Of IMAX Footage

When Christopher Nolan agreed to helm 2008's The Dark Knight, part of the deal with Warner Bros. was that they allowed him to shoot with IMAX (there was ultimately 40 minutes of such footage in the completed film). However, The Wall Street Journal reveals that The Dark Knight Rises will contain the most IMAX footage EVER - more than an hour's worth. IMAX apparently have yet to commit to any other films this August and September as they're planning on giving the third and final instalment of Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise as much time on their screens as possible. The film will in fact be screened at 100 locations across the US. "I felt if we could have one of those in every major city, we could justify the difficulty of going to a lot of trouble to shoot this way. You will see a crisper image," said the director.

"There was a huge irony that we were told it would be too difficult to shoot a Hollywood movie on IMAX when we had this gigantic camera department, grips, electric, hundreds of people working for us," Nolan continued. "These were cameras that had been to the top of Mount Everest, to the bottom of the ocean and into outer space, but people thought we couldn't make a feature film. It was absurd. I remember looking at the audience every time a helicopter banked, and everyone was leaning slightly to the side. I had never seen an audience so immersed in a film." Are you looking forward to seeing The Dark Knight Rises in IMAX? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

Sweet. But I'll probably end up seeing it in a regular theater close by. I don't want to drive 1.5-2 hours to see it in IMAX and then pay $30-40 on tickets and refreshments.

If theres one thing that isn't a question of fanboyism, its that TDKR will definitely LOOK the best out of any film this summer.

Love you Nolan for going the extra mile of filming in IMAX and not cheapening your film with dreadful 3D.

IMAX is the best way to see a movie. TDKR will be the next film I see there.

Also, I will never see another movie in 3-D again thanks to trainwreck known as Ghost Rider 2.
