Deadline reveals that Alcon Entertainment are in talks with Hampton Fancher to write a sequel to Blade Runner. They confirm that the movie will be a follow-up to the 1982 classic (which starred Harrison Ford) and that it will take place several years after the original, confirming that it won't be a reboot or prequel. Fancher wrote the previous film, sharing a screenplay credit with David Peoples, and Sir Ridley Scott is expected to direct as has been previously reported. There are currently no details on a release date or what this could mean for the rumoured sequel to next month's Prometheus.

@DukeAcureds What exactly do you mean?
If you think he isn't a replicant, then you obviously haven't seen the Directors Cut.

There's still ambiguity. I think he's a replicant, personally, but I certainly wouldn't want it spelled out, either way. Olmos' little unicorn is the biggest piece of evidence, but that doesn't neccasarily mean it's the same as the spiders in Racheol's memory. All his little mementoes had meaning. Maybe he was psychic. How the Hell would he know if Dekkard was a replicant, anyway?

Am I the only one who thinks Blade Runner should be left alone? I love the movie, (It's one of my favorites of all time) but what story is left to tell?

CaptainObvious@ None. But Ridley Scott doing it again? As long aas it is not a continuation, it could be pretty good.

HELL YEAH!

@Grif - why he butchered Prometheus? Movie looks awesome so far!

Well it sure is nice to see that they are opting for the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy by getting back for this one most of what made the original a cult film as well as not completely "remaking" the original story but rather spinning off of it.

Harrison Ford is out of the picture, I guess. For a younger actor; Garret Hedlund perhaps? Or a older actor; Russel Crow maybe?

A friend of mine theorizes that Prometheus is going to allow for a connection between the Alien universe and the Blade Runner universe.

Any thoughts? I don't know much about Blade Runner other than the basic story.

@SpiderFan - Impossible... There are too many differences between both universes. The chronology doesn't match, and the future Earth of Prometheus is not as dystopian as Blade Runner's. Not to mention that replicants are manufactured by Tyrell Corp. and the androids in Prometheus by Weyland, and that they're essentially different. I'm sure the only connection will be to Alien, but it will be something like the MCU: same universe, different stories.
