Chris Hemsworth Comments On Whether We Should Expect To See Thanos In THOR 2

Chris Hemsworth once again praises Game of Thrones and Thor 2 director Alan Taylor, commenting on the finding the right balance between Earth and Asgard and sharing his thoughts on whether we should expect to see the God of Thunder taking on Thanos!

"Alan Taylor is directing, and he's one of the producers and directors of 'Game of Thrones.' I love that sort of mythical element, that there was an organic real world there, and I think Asgard and Thor's ethereal universe could be injected with that," Chris Hemsworth told MTV Splash Page in a recent interview while promoting his next movie Snow White and the Huntsman. "It could be more sort of tangible. So more locations, less green screen. I think the Viking influence that that sort of world came from. It should feel [tangible]. It should exist more, instead of too shiny, clean, golden."

Despite the fact that filming begins in the next month or two, the actor reveals that he's yet to see the script ("Marvel has a habit of, the day before we shoot, handing us the script and saying, 'Quick, learn your lines!'") but promises that we will see the God of Thunder back on Earth. "You've always got to tie in Earth, I think. But Thor in the comic books, I found, that after the initial kind of establishing the character got more interesting because there were so many realms and things to explore."

Since Thanos popped up in the end credits of Marvel's The Avengers, there has been a lot of speculation as to whether Thanos will face off against Thor in his upcoming solo sequel (a possibility made all the more likely by the fact that "The Other" told Loki there would be consequences should the invasion of Earth fail...which it did). However, the actor laughed that he would be "too easy," adding that, "We need a bigger fish." An intriguing comment, but don't be too surprised if we do see the Mad Titan play a role in Thor 2! Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

What bigger fish than Thanos? You can't use Galactus since fox f'ed that character up.

I doubt we'll see him. It's possible but it's more likely they'll be hints to his presence.

Perhaps we'll see Loki stealing the Infinity Gauntlet from Odin's vault in order to gain forgiveness from Thanos.

Hardshaw, do you forget the fire demon Mangog?
Sorry, I just had to say it like that. Y'know since it's Thor and all.

Can Marvel use Dr.Doom or is he now a fox character? That would be awesome to bring him over to paramount.

i think it'll be surtur, you may get another cameo from thanos though.

if they use thanos in the avengers 2,maybe have cameo's in thor 2,iron man 3,captain america 2 & whatever else they release.

revealing a little bit in each movie right up to the big reveal.

@HardShaw- he's with fox, he's been the main villain in both fantastic four movies

How he hell would Thanos be too easy?
Hardshaw

I guess it's really messy having too many companies owning rights to different characters and when you think of it. Disney should now push to use that 1.3 billion profit from Avengers and create a Marvel universe not the multiverse we have with Paramount/Sony/Fox owning different properties.

I don't the think Hemsworth fully knows what he's talking about "Bigger fish"?Than Thanos?c'mon really?who then I say!!lol
captainbeta

He will be hinted upon. Thanos will be manipulating things from beyond. Bigger fish might mean the introduction of Surtur. Either way, Marvel has done a fantastic job controlling the way the movies come out. I personally would like to see Surtur introduced at the end of Thor 2. After the intro in the credits, have Scuttlebutt sending a signal out to warn the universe and show Beta Ray Bill in the cockpit.

the different studios could always collaborate, Spiderman in the Avengers would be huge
mgeoff88
mgeoff88 - 5/24/2012, 4:29 AM
I don't think that's going to happen. Don't get me wrong, it would be awesome if Thanos appeared in Thor 2, but Marvel said after The Avengers, the movies would go back to being more self-contained.

That was actually a while back before The Avengers was released though. It being such a huge success, maybe they'll change their mind.

And Chris Hemsworth's is merely joking that Thanos isn't a formidable enough villain.

@teabag Lol, I don't see how that's a party. ;P

BlackFlash - 5/24/2012, 4:39 AM
If they bring Thanos into Thor 2 it will just make Avengers 2 stupid because Thanos would end up with the Cosmic Cube or the Infinity Gauntlet or both, it would then make the whole argument with Thor taking the Cosmic Cube at the end of Avengers stupid. The only thing it would do is make another war about the Cube or something from Asgard, making Fury's statement about them make weapons because of Thor stick.

The Other: Humans... they are not the cowering wretches we were promised! They are unruly, and so cannot be ruled! To challenge them, is to court death.

Thanos: *Stands up and smiles*

If You know anything thing about Thanos you know that Death plays a big part of his character.

So I would say he's going after the Avengers before he goes after Thor

Make Thor 2 with a cliffhanger ending infinity gauntlet etc picking up in Avengers 2?
Ha1frican
Ha1frican - 5/24/2012, 4:54 AM
I would love to see every one of the phase 2 Marve projects either hint at ot focus on an infinity gem. We got 1 down in Avengers, leave one out of I'm 3, make it a big part of whatever is the villan in Thor 2, maybe Dr. Strange if thy do that. Then ultron for Avengers 2, phase 3 reveals what happened to the final 2 and then boom Avengers 3 with Thanos hunting down the infinity gems.

@Goomba you know that at Marvel studios the actors actually have a say in the script right? RDL more than anyone but Hemsworth and Evans are getting new directors so I'm sure they have pull
ManThing
ManThing - 5/24/2012, 5:15 AM
yeah... That's gotta be a joke. Thanos is a lot of things, but "easy" isn't one of them.

Anyway I take that as a sign that Thanos will not be in Thor 2 and I am ok with that..

What i am not ok with is this junk about changing Asgard. Asgard is supposed to be shiny, clean, and golden.

The vision of Asgard presented in Thor 1 was entirely perfect IMO... I think they should keep it like that!

I always try to see which characters are being introduced or reinvented in the comics or tv-shows. Based on that I think that Surtur and Enchantress will have a big role in Thor 2

@theamazinghipsterman - really? Just because he's your personal favorite does not make him the biggest or best known superhero. Spider-man is huge worldwide but takes a clear third place to the behemoths of Superman and Batman. X-men likely follow after that...

Zounds
Zounds - 5/24/2012, 5:58 AM
Hemsworth in a few interviews has admitted his former ignorance to the Marvel universe, and any comment which calls Thanos "too small" is either out of a persisting ignorance or sarcasm.

When I think of "bigger fish" I'm thinking Surtur. More Asgard. Dominant Thor narratives..."feels" like Surtur. Or maybe Mephisto?

@intruder re: Celestials. Wow. Would love an appearance...even if only at the end of Thor's run or The Avengers...to see them in a wide shot...Incredible.

Thanos could appear sometime during or at the end of the film, think about...

The Tesseract is back in Odin's treasure room, and we know it can be used as a doorway as they did with Loki, and whats of interest in Odin's treasure room that he would want to travel into to get...The infinity Gauntlet :]
