Dominic Cooper Unsure Of CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Return For Howard Stark

British actor Dominic Cooper confirms that he has yet to hear from Marvel Studios about returning as Howard Stark in Captain America 2 and shares his thoughts on the pressure that comes with playing a comic book character.

Talking to Collider, Dominic Cooper has revealed that he has yet to hear whether or not Howard Stark will have a role in Captain America 2. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has already confirmed that the sequel will feature WWII flashbacks, so the door definitely remains open for the return of the British actor as Tony Stark's father. "I just don’t know," he tells the site. "That one probably, because I’m the father, the next one I imagine will come later. But you never know, anything can happen to any of the characters at any time. They’re like the comics. But I don’t know. They’re incredible projects."

"And I didn’t really grow up with the comics," he adds. But I had friends that were, and now I can sort of see the pleasures of them and how creative they are. When you work with people who are so passionate about their product it’s kinda inspiring. They start rambling on to you about, 'Oh, you know, when you’re character in comic book 42, the emperor turns - ' and you just sit there nodding your head. But you’re amazing by their excitement, and it’s totally inspiring, although deeply worrying because you know you have a lot of people who have very, very clear views and ideas on how they perceive the characters."

Would you like to see Howard Stark back in the sequel (which looks set to be helmed by You Me And Dupree director Anthony Russo and Joe Russo) or should Marvel now keep the focus on Steve and Tony? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

*Facepalm.

You guys are retarded, In Iron Man 1 it cleary states, "Then the passing of a Titan." Cooper means for flashbacks. It actually depends on the scene, hope they do, he was great. If one day, RDJ can not play Tony, give it to Dominic, he is second best.

But what I'm more worried about is the directors, two gay-eque brothers doing my Favorite Avengers does not coddle me sufficiently.

I hope he comes back. He was one of the many reasons CA: TFA was my favorite CBM of 2011.

Granted, he won't appear in the movie that much, only in WWII flashbacks.

It would still be great if he was asked to come back.

@weneedrevelation I liked Dominic Cooper much more as Howard Stark than John Slattery, but I thought he did a good job in IM2.

I wouldn't mind him coming back in a flash back. Although I think if I was Marvel I would be getting ready to have him replace Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark. He already works well with Evens, he could easily change his appearance to look more like Tony Stark than Howard, he would be a lot cheaper than Downey and be able to play him longer as he's young, the fans would probably welcome the recast.

Let the new Iron Man take over! Still that said I want Downey to play Iron Man as long as he wants to!

I'd love to see him returning. I mean, some people are disappointed that The Avengers doesn't use Steve's relationship with Howard as one of the aspects that affects his relationship with Tony, and I think it can actually deepen their relationship in a way. It surely will be interesting if the creators decide to touch upon that aspect.

Unless Cap finds a time machine or something I can't think of any reason why Dominic Cooper would be in it.

I thought Captain America 2 was going to take place in modern times

Why would he? Cap takes place now.

Of course, flashbacks can always work for this kind of case. At the very least, if my idea above was ever to be implemented, the mention of his character should work just fine.

@Juggernaut & @Gigacrusher45 Jeez! You guys are [frick]ing stupid! READ THE ARTICLE!!!!!

For [frick]s sakes! Why does @Josh or @Ror or @Irish or anyone else write this stuff out if you don't even read through it?!

@TheGambitFreak..."Gay-eque"? What is that supposed to mean? Really? What I find "retarded" is the idea that gay people haven't had anything to do with the movies and comics you've been enjoying all along. You aren't ready for the big city.

@Largo161 It was a typo. *Gay-esque.

"What I find "retarded" is the idea that gay people haven't had anything to do with the movies and comics you've been enjoying all along. You aren't ready for the big city."

Really? Hmmm...

Whatever you say bud.

And by Gay-esque, I meant they seem a little to flamboyant for the averge brothers...

I have 3 brothers, and we don't do that. And not ready for the big city? Thats ironic seeing as how I'm an architect for the City of Oklahoma, you might want to update your metaphor dictionary, kid.

Bricktown-Oklahoma City

The building with the Cross. That's Saint Anthony's Hospital, I designed that.

@GambitFreak

Oklahoma "City", lol, yea that explains it. What @Largo meant was that there have certainly been plenty of homosexuals involved in making your favorite CBMs. Not all gay people are out to push their own agenda down people's throats (a la BRYAN SINGER). Your comment may not have been homophobic per se, but it certainly classifies you as a bigot.

The way you and your brothers live in that fly-over state only has bearing on YOUR perception of flamboyance. That is to say, I watch the same video and see rich white dudes....that's it. Of course you are entitled to your own opinion, just don't blame others for judging YOU based on those opinions.

Cap 1 had enough scientific cheesiness to last the franchise. Less Howard Stark and lasers, more grit, please.
