Construction on a 350,000 thousand square foot Marvel theme park has begun in the City of Arabia, Dubai. Marvel Adventure will be a vital part of The Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group's plans to open a gigantic entertainment centre and will include Marvel-themed retail outlets, dining facilities and interactive entertainment experiences. Set to open at the end of 2013, an official ground breaking ceremony took place earlier today to signify the start of construction.

"We are pleased to collaborate with Marvel for our multi-faceted themed family entertainment destination. This will be one part of the region’s largest entertainment destinations that IMG is developing which is sure to be a strategic landmark in Dubai, appealing to the region as well as other parts of the world," said Ilyas Galadari and Mustafa Galadari of IMG Group. "Following the outstanding global and local box office success of Marvel’s The Avengers, and the strong affinity for Marvel in the UAE, we are thrilled to be working with the IMG Group to bring Marvel’s most popular characters to kids and families across Dubai," adds Simon Philips, President of Marvel Entertainment International.

"Whether it’s having fun at one of the entertainment experiences, hanging out with friends and enjoying a meal or collecting the latest Marvel gadgets and action figures, there is truly something for everyone at Marvel Adventure." What would you like to see at Marvel Adventure? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place and stay tuned for more details about the theme park.

Am I the only one to say, why again is this being built in Dubai. Nothing against the people of Dubai but shouldn't the first park in the states???? Disney did first open here then overseas. Again....who from this site will actually have the funds to visit expensive Dubai etc etc etc

Am I wrong, can't believe I'm the one thinking of this.

Universal Studios and Disney compete in Florida... I was always wondering about the Merging of Marvel how this would impact those two competing franchises.. Give me Universal over Disney any day of the week...

jessepostal - 6/26/2012, 9:53 AM
I wouldn't say Disney and universal compete, Disney blows them out of the water. People go to Disney for a week and take a shuttle to universal for a day

Dubai not only gets the tallest building in the world, but now an EXTREMELY LARGE THEME PARK DEDICATED ONLY TO MARVEL? Dafauq? Someone better tell Disney or Universal to build one like that, and I mean a BIG one.

@jessepostal I want to ride Gwen Stacy (and Emma Stone if I ever had the chance, like I believe many of us would) but I wouldn't want to go on a Gwen Stacy ride. Oh and uh, I really do hope she is too busy to be able to read this comment.

I wonder how long it will be before some kid runs into the park with a big smile on his face and blows himself up along with innocent Americans?

Who would want to go to Dubai to go to a theme park? The whole place is like some giant Los Vegas/Theme Park hybrid. World's tallest buildings, insane resort hotels, man-made islands all over the coast... If there's an insane blueprint out there, Dubai is the place to build whatever its for.

Okay, seriously people... if you think the entirety of the middle east is war-torn, bombed out and full of terrorists, just go to google images and look up "Dubai".

Honestly. Go do it now.

Still feel like asking who would want to travel there?

@godzillafart have you ever been to Dubai? I haven't but I've heard American porn stars talk about their trips over there to escort for the filthy rich on howard stern. I'm basically an expert since ive been a long time listener. So dude no disrespect but get some culture. They are all terrorists out there and Allah forbid if one of our blue eyed military boys goes over there and tries to get some sweet Muslim tail. He will had been stoned to death. Women have to be covered at all times and furburgered out.

why are these kinds of places always in random locations, dubai? really? not america? where the comic industry thrives?

Okay, now go look up "Dubai beach". Look at all the women covered in burkas! Wait, no... those are bikinis.

It's sad to have a childish view of the world, but you should at least be intelligent enough to figure out that when an entire nation stakes its economy on tourism, they're not likely to tolerate hostility towards outsiders.

The very rich and powerful people in charge over there want foreigners to come there and spend money, have a good time, and come back again. The whole country is practically Disney World.

there is an Atlantis in Dubai. The country is doing its best to invest in their future. they understand they will eventually run out of oil. tourism will be the country's backfall for an economy.
