Warner Bros. are being careful not to make too big of a deal out of how well
The Dark Knight Rises has performed financially as a sign of respect for those affected by the Aurora shootings. However, the film has broken both domestic and worldwide IMAX records over the weekend according to
The Hollywood Reporter. Domestically, the film earned $19 million from 332 screens, for an average of £57,200 per screen. It made an additional $4.8 million from 64 of the screens internationally ($75,000 per screen average), making a worldwide total of $23.8 million in 396 IMAX theatres ($60,100 per screen average). Internationally, it made the most in the UK with $1.57 million on 19 screens. With another 89 theatres set to start showing the film next weekend (including China), expect even more records to be broken by Christopher Nolan's epic finale. Meanwhile, it has also been revealed (via
Variety) that Warner Bros. are planning to make a "substantial" donation through Colorado's Community First Foundation, which will then disperse the sum among the victims of the shooting. Be sure to read my 5* review of
