Jim Carrey Set To Join The Cast Of KICK-ASS 2 As 'The Colonel'?

Jim Carrey has reportedly been offered a "showy supporting role" in Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2 as 'The Colonel' (most likely 'Colonel Stars', the leader of superhero team "Justice Forever"). Read on for details about his possible role in the sequel.

Well, this is interesting. Deadline reports that Jim Carrey is in talks with Universal to join the cast of writer and director Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2. He has apparently been offered the role of 'The Colonel', something they go on to describe as "a showy supporting role" in the sequel. At this point however, a deal has not been made and there's no way of knowing whether or not he will say yes. Here's hoping he does. Presumably, the site is talking about 'Colonel Stars', an ex-Mafia member turned vigilante who forms "Justice Forever" alongside his brother 'Lieutenant Stripes'. At one point in the comic book series, he allows his dog to, well, eat the genitals of a bad guy before meeting his own brutal end at the hands of Red Mist's (a.k.a. The Mother F*cker) group of supervillains.

wow its been awhile since we've seen mr carrey in anything decent anyways...if he goes the Number 23 route then we're good but if he tries any riddler moves ill walk straight out...i've always love jim and who knows if its true but i would doubt him as a good addition to the ensemble at this point

Might get crucified for this but...

Kick Ass had a budget of $28 million. Kick Ass 2 will need a budget increase. Somewhere in the range of $50-65 million sounds good. To make sure they get their money back, I think lowering the rating would be for the best. Film it with HARD R in mind, edit it for PG-13 theatrical release, release for home video with original HARD R.

OR

They could release two theatrical versions of the same movie: One PG-13, one R rating.

Just don't want this movie to tank. Looking forward to this.

I liked him in Mr. Poppers Penguins even if it was more of a family/childrens film.

He better take it because this is one of those strange roles in a movie were you know an's actor career could be revived, just like Nicalos Cage in Kick-Ass...plus I think Jim Carrey could add a very Zaney, Psychotic feel to the charater like Christian Bale did in American Psycho

lol...just because an actor hasn't done a film for a while doesn't mean their career has tanked or needs revived. Some actors...don't need to do films every year. When you have had the success Carrey has had, you can take some time off. He did just finish filming with Steve Carrell for a new film coming out next year though. I'm all for him playing pretty much any role. The guy is a very diverse actor.

Even if you don't like Jim Carrey's movies, calling him a bad actor is pretty ignorant of what the craft of acting entails. I don't often find his movies funny (just personal taste) but there's no denying his incredible skill as a human cartoon.
